Are you ready to be critical in coordinating efforts across security functions, including threat analysis, vulnerability management, and penetration testing? Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to lead part of a cutting-edge security operations team? The Governor’s Office of Information Technology is currently seeking an innovative Manager over part of our Security Operations team to play a pivotal role in our Information Security Office.
As our new manager, you will oversee a team of dedicated threat intelligence analysts and vulnerability management system administrators, ensuring effective management and collaboration within the team and across OIT. In addition, you will work with peers to develop, implement, and report on performance indicators that highlight our program's success and the return on investment of our tools. Your leadership and judgment will be essential in ensuring that our technology is used as intended and that our information security practices are robust and compliant with regulations.
Some of your important responsibilities will include:
Orchestrate threat intelligence and vulnerability management to continuously improve capabilities and inform on opportunities to reduce risk.
Provide regular metrics reports to senior leadership to ensure standards are met and performance is monitored and effectively managed.
Accountable for executing the functional duties of the team(s) within the organization.
Support and help establish and enforce organization-wide standards for information security best practices and regulatory compliance.
Review project progress, assess/identify risk, and develop remediation options as necessary.
Actively engage in improving leadership skills, attitudes, and knowledge, especially as related to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Attend training, development, and group training on topics of inclusive leadership.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
A wide salary range is posted for this position and any job offer is based upon a salary analysis to comply with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The salary analysis considers relevant experience, education, certifications, and state seniority as compared to others doing substantially similar work. While most salary offers are made within the posted range, occasionally an offer is made below or above the posted range based upon this salary analysis.
This is a skills-based job announcement. The required minimum qualifications and/or
education (if substituting for the proven experience, knowledge, and skills), are as follows:
Minimum Qualifications:
A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in Information Technology.
At least two (2) years of experience in threat intelligence (threat analysis and report writing; security, data analysis).
At least one (1) year of relevant experience performing at the IT Management level, preferably orchestrating a vulnerability management and threat intelligence team within a Security Operations Center
Substitutions:
Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis, but cannot completely substitute for these qualifications.
Training or Certification related to the work assigned to the position will be assigned credit towards substitution for experience and/or education, but cannot completely substitute for these qualifications.
If the minimum qualifications include a degree requirement, additional appropriate paid or unpaid experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
Project management experience.
Experience building and managing a functional Threat & Vulnerability Management program.
A deep understanding of strategic, operational, and tactical threat intelligence; Well-versed with various threat intelligence frameworks such as the Diamond Model, MITRE ATT&CK, and Cyber Kill Chain.
Knowledge of programming languages, security operations, and SIEM tools.
Awareness of cyber security regulations and compliance, access review, audit, and remediation.
Relevant Certifications ex. CISSP, GIAC: GEVA, GCTI, GCFA, GNFA, GMON, GCED, GREM, GSNA, GCIH, GSEC.
Conditions of Employment:
OIT candidates and employees must comply with any screening procedures in place at state entity locations where they might be required to perform work.
A pre-employment background check will be conducted as part of the selection process.
Positions supporting some agencies such as the Department of Corrections and the Department of Public Safety will also require a pre-employment drug test.
This position is remote form anywhere in Colorado
This position may require travel within the specified geographic area, and to locations across the state as needed.
This position may require on-call duties as needed by the position.
Supplemental Information
If this posting indicates “remote from anywhere in CO” in the title, periodic reporting to the primary state work location designated for the position is required. All remote work must be performed in Colorado.
While candidates from out of state will be considered for this role, the candidate selected for the position must relocate and reside in Colorado on the first day of their new position. A reasonable timeframe for relocation will be established on an individual basis, while considering business needs, and determining a start date.
