STUDENT INTERN / STUDENT WORKER
The purpose of the DEQ Student Internship program is to employ undergraduate and graduate students in fields of study that provide students with work experience and exposure to the environmental regulatory processes and the business operations of a governmental entity. Through this program, students will have increased awareness of environmental matters and encourage students to pursue environmental/governmental careers.
In order to qualify for an internship, students must be:
Enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate or graduate institution.
Pursuing an education in a directly related curriculum to the Division that they will be working for (i.e. BS/MS in Biology for OES/Permits, BA in Accounting for Fiscal Services, etc.)
Please make every effort to attach a copy of your transcript to your application if possible (PDF format preferred). Selected candidates will be required to submit original transcripts upon hire reflecting their eligibility for internship status.
DEQ also recruits student workers for positions across the agency. Student workers are not required to pursue an education in a curriculum that is directly related to the Division in which they will be working.
All students must provide verification of enrollment from their University upon hire. The verification must be on official University letterhead and include the students name, status (full-time or part-time with the number of hours enrolled), and classification.
Students do not need to be registered during the summer sessions in order to be qualified for student status; however, they must have been full time students in the spring semester or pre-registered full time for the fall semester in order to be employed for the summer.
