Benefits and Memorial Program The Benefits and Memorial Program (BAM) provides high quality, effective, and efficient Information Technology (IT) services to those responsible for providing care to the Veterans at the point-of-care as well as throughout all points of the Veterans' health care in an effective, timely and compassionate manner. The VA depends on Information Management/Information Technology (IM/IT) systems to meet mission goals, and deliver world-class, innovative systems that ensure reliable, secure, and seamless delivery of benefits and services directly to Veterans and their families. The BAM program focuses on developing and managing advanced technology solutions to serve the Veterans Benefits Administration, the Board of Veterans Appeals, and the National Cemetery Administration. 9th Way Insignia Technology has an opening for a Journeyman Software Developer to assist in developing Systems Software to sustain and improve the BAM program. This position is contingent upon contract award from the government.

Professional Level Information: A Journeyman Software Developer aligns as an Engineer (2) within 9th Way Insignia Technology. An Engineer, 2 An Engineer 2 has a good understanding of the software development life cycle and can take on work without much direction the majority of the time. Performs multiple engineering-related tasks in various assignments within the project and firm. An Engineer, 2 has broad knowledge of engineering procedures and assists in the resolution of complex problems. An Engineer, 2, has strong technical skills and background, a knack for learning new technologies, and a blend of good problem-solving and innovation needed to resolve a wide variety of technical production challenges. Responsibilities:

Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code following best practices.

Develop new features and enhance existing applications based on business requirements.

Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, coding, testing, and deployment.

Work closely with product managers, designers, and other developers to deliver high-quality software solutions.

Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.

Communicate effectively with team members to understand project requirements and deliverables.

Identify and troubleshoot software defects and issues.

Conduct root cause analysis and implement solutions to prevent recurrence.

Optimize application performance and improve user experience.

Create and maintain technical documentation for software designs, code, and processes.

Develop and execute unit tests, integration tests, and other automated tests to ensure software quality.

Participate in manual testing efforts as needed.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, a related field (or 7 years equivalent work experience in lieu of degree).

3 years of professional software development experience.

Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript.

Experience with software development methodologies, including Agile/Scrum.

Familiarity with version control systems like Git.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.

Basic understanding of database technologies (SQL and/or NoSQL).

Ability to learn new tech ologies quickly and adapt to changing requirements.

Salary Range: The salary range for this position is $77,097 - $115,000 9th Way Insignia's range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Location: Remote 9th Way Insignia reserves the right to adjust work location based upon mission requirements.
