The School of Health Professions (SHP) at Stony Brook University invites applicants to apply for the position of Director of Clinical Education in the Physician Assistant Program. This is a non-tenure track, 12-month faculty appointment at the Clinical Assistant Professor level. The Physician Assistant Program is delivered at both the Stony Brook University East Campus- Health Sciences Center and Stony Brook University Southampton locations.The Director of Clinical Education in the Physician Assistant Program reports to the Chair of the Physician Assistant Program. The Director of Clinical Education will administer the clinical education program across the two campuses. Responsibilities include initiating and facilitating ongoing development of clinical education sites; developing, monitoring and refining the clinical education components of the curriculum; managing student placements; supervising and assessing students during clinical education; and managing and overseeing the end of rotation schedule. The candidate hired for this position will also have responsibilities in teaching, research/scholarship, and service. Service responsibilities include but are not limited to advising students; providing service to the program, school, university, community and profession; and assisting the Chairperson with accreditation efforts, alumni engagement, external giving outreach and other assignments which contribute to program growth.Stony Brook University is located on Long Island and is part of the State University of New York system. The School of Health Professions' Department of Physician Assistant offers a Master of Science degree, and the program is accredited by Commission on Accreditation for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). The department provides a dynamic learning experience through interdisciplinary and professional collaborative research, relationships with strong community programs, and opportunities to develop scholarly activities both within the department and the healthcare community. The Program is one of six professional degree granting programs in the School of Health Professions. Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must have an earned degree in Physician Assistant Education (Bachelor's or Master's, foreign equivalent or higher) from an accredited institution. Applicant must be National Commission Certification for Physician Assistant Certified. Licensed (or eligible for licensure) to practice as a Physician Assistant in New York State. Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience as a practicing Physician Assistant. Applicant must have a Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Served as a clinical preceptor for a minimum of two clinical experiences.

Preferred Qualifications:
Record of teaching. Experience as a Director of Clinical Education in an academic PA program. Experience with ARC PA standards and accreditation. Earned academic doctoral degree (or foreign equivalent) from a regionally accredited institution (e.g. PhD, EdD, or DSc); ABD is acceptable.
