Bachelor's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher degree). Three years full-time professional experience in an administrative role at the college or university level. Proficiency in navigating and maintaining databases. Strong data entry skills, attention to detail and the ability to work autonomously, prioritizing daily tasks to accomplish goals. Professional experience in word processing, databases, spreadsheet management, electronic messaging and internet applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Apps, etc.). Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher degree). Experience with PeopleSoft Student Administrative Services. Experience with the transfer credit evaluation process. Experience collaborating directly with departmental faculty on time sensitive projects.Brief Description of Duties:
The Transfer Articulation Specialist serves as an important team member within Academic and Transfer Advising Services with direct responsibility for transfer credit articulation and providing transfer related services to students, staff, and faculty. Builds and maintains course equivalencies, collaborates with faculty, and upholds the highest level of academic integrity and data accuracy. The successful incumbent will have excellent interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational and time-management skills with exceptional attention to detail. Essential for this role is the adeptness to work independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving.

Duties:

  • Implement appropriate policies, guidelines and procedures to ensure the accuracy of the data within transfer articulation modules of the student information system including transfer tables and verify the correct application of the data in the degree audit system.
  • Build and maintain equivalencies for courses offered at other colleges and universities for new students and continuing students.
  • Conduct research, such as assessing other institutions course catalogs for evaluation purposes.
  • Enter and monitor all transfer articulated data to ensure orientation, registration, prerequisite screening, academic advising, and degree audit processes are supported.
  • Identify new guidelines to improve procedures within business processes and data processing.
  • Collaborate with faculty and departments in evaluating major-specific courses.
  • Articulate the evaluations received from all undergraduate academic programs and schools such as School of Health Sciences, College of Arts & Sciences, College of Engineering & Applied Sciences, College of Business, School of Communications & Journalism, School of Marine & Atmospheric Sciences, Stony Brook Southampton.
  • Articulate courses for highly specialized programs such as Stony Brook Institute at Anhui University, SUNY Korea, Athletics.
  • Serve as a resource and subject matter expert to faculty, staff and administrators on topics relating to transfer articulation and evaluation.
  • Lead for articulating courses that need academic department evaluation that are coordinated by the Academic & Transfer Advising Services outreach team during the registration period.
  • Proactively work with academic departments to evaluate and update courses while concurrently updating the database.
  • Provide support with the maintenance of live database, assist with development and implementation of transfer articulation workflow for Health Sciences undergraduate records.
  • Provide high quality transfer-related services, including running queries based on transfer course evaluations to ensure the accuracy of the records.
  • Divisional support: Participate in various Divisional and University programs and services including training/staff development, campus events, special events, search committees, and University-wide committees.
  • Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.


Special Notes:
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
