LOCATION:Eligible to sit at any APC Location (Story City, IA - Columbus, WI - Rochester, NY)

SUMMARY: A Regulatory position reporting to the Corporate Regulatory Compliance Manager. Primary responsibility is to support the requests of APC Customers for documents that represent current and future US and Global Regulatory Compliance for customer products as well as ensure compliance with APC business protection. This position will support the Regulatory Compliance needs of APC customers, as well as the APC Technical, Sales, Business, Materials, Purchasing, Quality, and Customer Service teams. The ideal candidate will possess an understanding of flexible packaging regulatory requirements, material content and awareness of US and Global Regulations as applied to food and pharmaceutical packaging.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • In this position, you will have an administrative role in supporting document requests to meet and exceed customer expectations for accuracy, compliance, and specific requests for specific structures and customer needs.

  • This position works with all APC Teams in all locations.

  • Assist in activities associated with regulatory approval of raw materials collaborating with suppliers to gather new and current US and Global regulatory information on raw materials used by APC.

  • Work to maintain the Nexus raw material data base with specific information requests to suppliers and Regulatory approval of each raw material as applicable.

  • Provide support for currently produced products, trial products, proposed products by reviewing material changes, customer requirements and documentation needed for compliance and for changes requiring regulatory evaluation, as they pertain to US and Global regulatory requirements.

  • Responsible for maintenance of supplier, material and customer files for ongoing activities related to compliance with US and Global directives and regulations.

  • Collaborate and provide guidance to the Sales, Technical, Quality, Customer Service, and Operational teams on material regulatory compliance to comply with customer requests and regulatory concerns.

  • Monitor and provide specific documents for customer requests in external document systems- Decernis 1 and 2, 3E, TraceGains, FoodLogik, etc.

  • Assist Technical team with sample submission for customer required analysis.

  • Develop a detailed awareness of changing US and Global regulations, customer compliance concerns, and supplier material changes.

  • Participate in training, embrace concepts of and actively practice the SPOT Safety Program fundamentals to aid APC’s efforts to achieve a zero-accident rate.

  • Attend and participate in all company mandated meetings.

  • Business travel as required.

  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; with one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Bachelors degree (B.A.) in a Science Field (Food Science, Chemistry, etc.) from a four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The ideal candidate for this position will have knowledge of flexible packaging materials, US and Global Regulatory standards and guidelines for packaging, attention to details in creating specific responses to documentation requests.

Experience with varied software including Microsoft Office, Nexus, Radius, Work Front, etc. to obtain information and post completed documents as needed.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret US and Global regulations and summaries, APC technical specifications, customer requests and document compliance.

Ability to effectively present detailed information product information and material information in response to requests from customers, and internal APC Teams.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply mathematical operations to calculations of material content and compliance to specific structures- for example PCR content, chemical of concern content, etc.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of requests in situations where only limited information may exist. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, mathematical, diagram or schedule form.
