Product Development Engineer - Metal Carbide Coating The Metal Carbide Coating Product Development Engineer will lead new product development projects focused on next generation coatings and substrates. This individual will be responsible for technical development and manufacturing handoff of new and improved processes to achieve business growth. The Product Development Engineer will demonstrate strict adherence to site EHS requirements, completion of assigned tasks, and providing periodic updates on key metrics and project status to all relevant team members, management, and others. Responsibilities Apply chemical and material science fundamentals in research and development projects and apply project management skills in planning, budgeting, time management, resource allocation, and risk management. Develop and implement robust new methods and procedures for new products and transfer the processes to manufacturing facilities. Generate intellectual property such as technical reports, operation procedures, characterization techniques, load designs, patents, and publications. Apply Six Sigma methodology, statistical and characterization tools to analyze process yield and product quality. Basic Qualifications: Master's degree or PhD in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, Chemistry, or Applied Physics with a minimum of two (5) years' experience in a manufacturing environment Chemical vapor deposition experience (or similar vacuum coating high temperature technologies) Proficient in statistical design and analysis of experimental data including design of experiment, hypothesis testing and Gage R&R Project leadership experience - effective planning and prioritization of projects to ensure on time delivery of new technologies. Basic mechanical design capability (e.g., SolidWorks or similar) Familiar with material characterization techniques including XRD, SEM, EDS Proven interaction skills in a multi-functional team environment A strong sense of accountability, urgency, and self-direction Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Knowledge of safety and environmental requirements related to general manufacturing processes, including use of personal protective equipment Confident communications, both written and verbal Excellent proficiency in all Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project) Preferred Qualifications: Minimum of five (5) years' experience in a manufacturing environment involving furnaces or reactors Semiconductor material processing background or knowledge Six Sigma training and/or certifications Key Relationships: Research and Development Team, Application Development Engineering Team, Process Engineering Team, Ceramics Product Management Travel Requirements: Up to 5% Our Product Development Engineer will earn a variable compensation including base salary and bonus.
