Your role
The Senior Manager of Content and Production for the Northern and Southwestern Ontario regions is responsible for planning, guiding, organizing, producing, and distributing content across all platforms (radio, television, and digital).
To develop your sector, you will manage the human, technical, and financial resources allocated to it to achieve the objectives of the region and the regional services. Under the general authority of the regional management, you will work closely with all members of the management team. You will ensure adherence to established strategic and editorial orientations and compliance with journalistic standards and practices throughout the sector.
You possess excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills. You are adept at managing daily operations and a newsroom. You demonstrate positive, collaborative, and inclusive leadership and showcase great creativity. You foster the continuous development of teams by encouraging their engagement and thrive in a dynamic work environment. You embody and promote values rooted in respect and inclusion.
Key responsibilities:
Participate in planning general strategic objectives, particularly those related to the information sector, editorial direction, digital platforms, impact journalism, and continuous news.
Advise regional management on priority actions to achieve sector objectives and ensure their implementation.
Analyze audience needs and propose relevant content to meet set objectives.
Coordinate the human and administrative resources required for content production across all platforms (digital, social media, radio, television).
Motivate teams to propose and develop a variety of content relevant to the audience, including continuous news, special reports, impact journalism, or social and cultural programming.
Propose special information deployment projects (special television broadcasts, radio programs, digital projects, etc.) and take necessary measures to ensure their execution.
Participate in staff recruitment panels or delegate a representative to do so.
Contribute to staff performance management processes and recommend measures to improve performance when needed.
Ensure compliance with statutory health and safety requirements for Radio-Canada stations and/or offices in Northern and Southwestern Ontario.
Serve on various local, regional, and national committees upon request.
Propose and implement more efficient processes and monitor service productivity.
Manage technical, technological, and spatial constraints. Recommend equipment acquisitions and the adoption of new technical methods and practices. Stay informed about emerging technological trends.
Oversee the management of Radio-Canada’s technical assets in Ontario and the operationalization of collaboration agreements to meet technical needs across all Ontario regions.
Maintain collaborative relationships with other regional Ontario stations, including CBC, to maximize efficiency and synergy opportunities.
Assess needs related to operating and capital budgets, propose solutions to management, and control expenses within allocated budgets. Adapt measures to meet programming and production requirements.
Perform any other duties assigned by management.
Your profile:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Ten (10) years of experience in the media industry, with excellent knowledge of multiplatform environments
In-depth knowledge of media, particularly digital platforms, Radio-Canada’s journalistic standards and practices, and the Corporation’s programming policies
Proven team management experience
Experience managing a newsroom – an asset
Strong leadership skills to mobilize, unite, and inspire creative and motivated teams
Demonstrated ability to support employee development and provide constructive feedback. Positive attitude and solution-oriented leadership
Capacity to make multiple decisions within tight deadlines
Financial management skills
Strong communication skills, including public speaking and the ability to build and maintain interpersonal relationships
Ability to build and maintain ties with community leaders and CBC/Radio-Canada’s audiences
Knowledge of the culture, economy, and diversity of Northern Ontario and the province
Bilingualism (French-English) – essential
Ability to travel occasionally as needed
Availability to respond to emergencies on weekends and evenings
