Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. This role involves operating various heavy equipment, ensuring efficient operation, and maintaining equipment in top condition. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction and a strong commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

  • Operate excavators, bulldozers, motor graders (except for pipe crew operators), and support equipment such as front end loaders, rubber tire backhoes, mini-excavators, skid steers, off-road trucks, and rollers efficiently.

  • Utilize GPS equipment, including machine control and GPS rovers.

  • Perform preventive equipment maintenance, including greasing, checking and maintaining oil/fluid levels, and replacing filters.

  • Maintain equipment cleanliness, including tracks, cabs, and windows.

  • Conduct daily equipment inspections thoroughly and accurately, documenting findings with daily equipment inspection forms.

  • Secure equipment properly each day, ensuring windows and doors are closed and locked and equipment is parked in a safe and secure location.

  • Maximize equipment utilization and promptly report any equipment problems to the project foreman or superintendent.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 3+ years of construction experience or a combination of education and experience.

  • Knowledge of principles, methods, and standards of the designated trade area.

  • Experience with tools and equipment commonly used in the trade.

  • Ability to read and understand plans and specifications.

  • Adherence to work standards and specifications.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in site development, site construction, fine grading, and heavy equipment operation.

  • Familiarity with GPS localization, Trimble GPS, Topcon systems, and construction safety practices.

  • Ability to operate various construction equipment such as dozers, excavators, front end loaders, motor graders, and backhoes.

Work Environment

The work environment involves working outside on civil development sites, dealing with all weather conditions. You must be able to perform tasks safely and efficiently in hot summers and wet, cold winters. Emphasis is placed on maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work site.
