Atlantic Health System Painter III in Summit, New Jersey
Responsible for applying coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect interior or exterior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings, structures, and/or equipment. Paints surfaces, using brushes, spray gun, or paint rollers and simulates wood grain, marble, brick, or tile effects. Erects scaffolding or sets up ladders to perform tasks above ground level. Reads work order or receives instructions from supervisor regarding various painting assignments.
Principal Accountabilities:
Washes surfaces prior to painting with mildew remover, using brush.
Smooths surfaces using sandpaper, brushes, or steel wool and removes old paint using paint remover, scraper, wire brush to prepare surfaces for painting.
Fills nail holes, cracks, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers using caulking gun and putty knife. Ability to tape and spackle new sheetrock.
Selects premixed paints or mixes required portions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying substances to prepare paint that matches specified colors.
Removes fixtures, such as pictures, furniture, and electric switch covers from walls prior to painting.
Spreads drop cloths over floors and room furnishings and covers surfaces such as baseboards, doorframes, and windows with masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting.
Applies paint with cloth, brush, sponge, or fingers to create special effects and hangs wallpaper and fabrics.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Level I - High School Diploma or equivalent. 0-3 years of experience in Industrial Paint or relevant area. Completion of Pulmonary Function test to obtain Respirator Certification. Experience painting large commercial buildings, interiors, and exteriors preferred.Level II - High School Diploma or equivalent. 3-5 years of experience in Industrial Paint or relevant area. Completion of Pulmonary Function test to obtain Respirator Certification. Experience painting large commercial buildings, interiors, and exteriors preferred.Level III - High School Diploma or equivalent. 5+ years of experience in Industrial Paint or relevant area. Completion of Pulmonary Function test to obtain Respirator Certification. Experience painting large commercial buildings, interiors, and exteriors preferred.
