Job Description
We are currently seeking a Machinist/NC Grinder. Our Machinist operates computer numerical control machines and conventional machines to fabricate parts. You will load parts in the machine, cycle the machine, and detect malfunctions in machine operations such as worn or damaged cutting tools. You will run production lots, communicate with co-workers regarding production runs, and maintain a safe, organized, and clean work environment. In all actions, you will support the company's Quality Policy, Mission Statement, and other policies and procedures by supporting our commitment to total customer satisfaction, quality products and services, lean processes, continuous improvement, on-time delivery, safety, teaming, individual accountability, and respect for people.
Hard Skills
Sets up and operates one or more grinding machines both manual (centerless) O.D and I.D Grinder (Parker Majestic, Crystal Lake)
Surface Grinder such as small HARIG 618 Auto and large OKAMOTO Auto
CNC (Studer) to grind external cylindrical surfaces of metal workpieces to blueprint and work order specifications
Knowledge of grinding wheel feeds, speeds, holding fixtures, and grinding wheels type to be used
Dress wheels to specifications, using dressing devices
Capability to read blueprints and work orders for product specifications, such as dimensions, tolerances and number of parts to be ground in addition to tooling instructions
Skilled in the use of indicator, gage, dial bores, and plate inspection methods for first article and in-process inspection of precision machined parts
Ability to maintain close tolerances (within .0003”) of ID’s, hold profile, roundness
Understanding of machine tool accuracies
Understanding of all router instructions for each grinding sequence and evaluating production and setup standards immediately after starting and establishing the actual time standards
Run production on CNC machining center
Check, and monitor the parts that are being produced to ensure quality standards are being met
Responsible to produce the proper amount of parts per machine cycle time
Deburr and blend all parts that are machined
Perform daily maintenance on machines including maintaining fluid levels, emptying chips, wiping down machine to remove coolant, dust and debris
Fill out and maintain paperwork properly, and always be here and on time
