About being our Consultant Project Manager

As the Consultant Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of transportation projects, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of stakeholders. You will oversee a multi-discipline project delivery team, work closely with the external stakeholders to plan, design, and construct a variety of transportation projects.

Responsibility Highlights for our Consultant Project Manager

  • Manage a portfolio of transportation projects during the following phases of project development (initiation, planning, design, right of way, construction and closeout)
  • Work closely with Caltrans functional team members and external stakeholders
  • Manage project risks/issues and develop mitigation strategies as needed in order to minimize negative impacts or maximize the benefits of opportunities
  • Ensure that all project documentation is complete and up to date, including project workplans, schedules, budgets, and status reports
  • Coordinate with other Caltrans departments and external agencies to ensure that projects are delivered in accordance with state and federal regulations and guidelines
  • Prepare project financial management plans
  • Facilitate team buy-in and issue resolution as necessary

Minimum Qualifications to be our Consultant Project Manager

  • Active Professional Engineering License in California (PE)
  • CertifiedProject Management Professional (PMP)or equivalent(candidates who are in the process and/or who have the ability to ob ain certification upon hire may be considered)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Planning, other related discipline
  • 5+ years of documented demonstrated experience acceptable by Caltrans working on transportation projects (roadway, highway, or bridge) as a Project Manager, Project Development Team Leader, or Project Engineer
  • Experience managing or delivering transportation projects (roadway, highway, or bridge)
  • Familiarity with State Department of Transportation and FHWA procedures is preferred
  • Ability to travel between project sites and office facilities as needed and required by the Client
