VCV delivered biometric features such as Face ID and Optic ID as well as many other computer vision algorithms powering Apple Vision Pro, iPhone, and iPad. We focus on a balance of research and development to deliver Apple quality, state-of-the-art experiences. Come shape Apple products as a driven and dedicated Computer Vision Engineer responsible for the suite of tools to simulate image quality aggressors and augment data for machine learning to push the limits of biometric algorithms with hands-on work and real world and simulated data in an innovative team and be part of building the next big thing.

Description

In collaboration with cross-functional teams design and develop computer vision Figures of Merit to characterize key image quality metrics that guarantee customer experience for biometric algorithms Design and develop methodologies for simulating degradations due to various aggressors in the image acquisition process to support computer vision algorithm development and validation Work with software engineers in setting up a robust pipeline for using simulated degradation of images to test and push the limits of computer vision algorithms that power Apple quality experiences on Apple products.

Minimum Qualifications

Key Qualifications

  • Strong background and understanding of the image acquisition process in digital imaging systems including optics, sensors, lighting in visible and infrared wavelength, and image quality aggressors

  • Strong background in digital signal and image processing

  • Strong proficiency in writing clean and well-structured code preferably in Python

  • Good understanding of data structures and algorithms

  • Familiarity with cloud technologies is a plus

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to conduct scientific experiments and communicate clearly the outcomes

  • Passion for quality and outstanding attention to detail

  • Self-motivated and phenomenal teammate

Education & Experience

BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $138,900 and $256,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
