We are looking for a Software Engineer to provide technical expertise for manufacturing and testing Amazon’s next generation of devices.

Key job responsibilities

As a Software Development Engineer in Test, you’ll have a unique opportunity to shape the development and future of the AME Manufacturing Test team. In this role you will innovate and solve problems of high ambiguity and high impact. You will drive design choices, trade-offs, priorities and timelines. You will demonstrate exceptional technical expertise, and practical experience building large-scale distributed systems. You are data and metric driven, and consistently strive for optimal performance even in resource-constrained situations. You will guide and inspire other engineers, participate in defining our engineering culture, and help to build a world class and highly self-motivated team.

A day in the life

As a Software Development Engineer in Test you’ll be expected to:

• Develop test solution and test-setup prototypes for new technologies

• Work collaboratively with our operations and engineering partners

• Serve as a test lead on our, cross-functional projects with significant bottom-line impact

• Ensure the quality and execution of our manufacturing test systems

• Proactively communicate technical information and status to broad, cross-functional teams

• Functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions

• Understand system inter-dependencies and limitations

About the team

Joining the AME Manufacturing Test team gives you the opportunity to:

• Innovate the next generation manufacturing solutions for Amazon Devices

• Participate in the architecture, design, development and launch of some of the core product features for customers

• Create reliable, scalable, and high-performance digital security solutions utilizing AWS services

• Define and execute security requirements for device operations, data transfer, storage and retention

• Solve challenging problems that will revolutionize manufacturing and test

• Build diversity and inclusion circumstances to promote innovation, creativity, and problem-solving.

The ideal candidate will have experience leading or contributing to multiple simultaneous product development efforts. You’ll strive for simplicity, and demonstrate significant creativity and high judgment.

Sunnyvale, CA, USA

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors of Science degree in Computer Science or related field

  • 5+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams

  • Experience building and operating production systems or test framework and tools with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Labview or other related language

  • Knowledge of software engineering practices including coding standards, testing, source control management, and operations

  • Relevant knowledge of the product-development process and manufacturing test

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or higher degree

  • Sharp analytical abilities and proven design skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience developing cloud and distributed software services and an understanding of design for security, availability, and performance

  • Experience in Embedded Software Development

  • Experience with large-scale data analytics and data warehousing.

  • Experience and detailed technical knowledge of security engineering, system and network security, authentication and security protocols, cryptography, and application security

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
