Job Summary The General Foreman coordinates operations and oversee foremen and employees at the production sites. As the senior manager for the production workforce, the General Foreman will be the key person in charge of overseeing the completion of various simultaneous project with a keen awareness of material expenses, staffing requirements, policies and procedures, and employee safety. Responsibilities Works closely with vessel Port Engineers, Yard Superintendent, Yard Foremen, and Government Contracting Officers to manage repair projects. Works with Coast Guard and American Bureau of Shipping to ensure repair work is completed to ABS/CG standards. Schedules, attends, and documents surveys with customers and regulatory bodies. Develops and provides reports to vessel owners and ABS/CG. Includes NDT (UT) reports, survey reports, etc. Works with Yard personnel and customers to develop, maintain and communicate schedules for repair/maintenance projects. Meet with existing clients to perform an initial assessment, discuss goals, and strategize methods for improvement, provide updates on project specific information. Solve problems through helpful recommendations and practical suggestions. Collect data on work projects performed through meetings, workplace shadowing and researching documents. Prepares reports and documentation as is required by management. Coordinates work with subcontractors hired by the Yard on vessel projects. Works with Yard Superintendent to quote repair/maintenance work. Works with Yard Superintendent to provide written technical responses to solicitation (incl. government solicitations) Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies. Qualifications High school diploma, GED or similar required. Certification in a skilled trade (electrician, carpenter) preferred. Experience with USCG License or Marine Engineering degree beneficial. 4+ years\' experience in ship repair/construction required. Management experience required. Must be eligible for a TWIC Card.
