SUMMARY

East Georgia State College is seeking a dedicated and skilled Athletic Trainer to join our dynamic team. The Athletic Trainer will work closely with student-athletes across various sports programs to provide expert care and support in injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation. This position plays a crucial role in promoting the health and well-being of our athletes, ensuring they perform at their best while maintaining their physical health.

MAJOR

DUTIES

Team Sport Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for daily health care needs for EGSC student-athletes
    1. Includes attending all games and practices.
    2. Attend weights if there is a sickle cell trait positive student-athlete on the roster.
    3. Travel with teams to all away events when possible.
    4. Injury reports to all coaches, including strength and conditioning in a timely manner.
    5. Maintain all documentation of injuries/illness, rehab and their progress notes
    6. Maintain all documentation of all doctor referrals, surgery notes, and diagnostic test results/referrals.
    7. Responsible for hydration needs of all practices and organization for home game days.
    8. Responsible for medical claim filing/processing when infrastructure is established.
    9. If Graduate Assistant/intern available then the fully certified staff member will be secondary in a supervisory role.

Athletic Department Responsibilities

  1. Attend bi-weekly department meetings
  2. Responsible for following EGSC athletics Policy Manual rules and regulations.
  3. Be committed to and demonstrate understanding, acceptance, and compliance with NJCAA and institutional athletic related rules and regulations at all times.
    1. Communicate NJCAA compliance standards and assist with rules-education.
    2. Report all known or suspected violations of NJCAA or GCAA conference regulations to the appropriate athletic or institutional administrator.

Sports Medicine Responsibilities

Responsible for following the NATA Code of Ethics (can be found on NATA website).

Responsible for maintaining Code of Professional Responsibility.

Maintain all confidential information in accordance to HIPAA and sign a confidentiality document annually.

Follow all safety and other risk management policies in performance of work in accordance to OSHA/CDC/NATA.

Supervise athletic training graduate assistants working with sports teams AND responsible for overseeing coverage and organization of all home tournaments, matches, practices, and games.

Responsible for directly overseeing assigned graduate assistants record keeping, billing services for their respective sports and their injuries.

Assist with performance evaluations for graduate assistants at the end of each semester.

Responsible for the physical forms for all sports.

Assist with the organization and administration of physical examinations.

Assist with the organization and administration of drug testing.

Work closely with the team physician and all medical specialists.

Assist with the recruitment and hiring of graduate assistant athletic trainers.

Assist with duties associated with maintaining a professional health care facility.

Responsible for requesting and communicating days off, half days, and vacation with the Athletic Director.

Maintaining a positive rapport with all staff members in the work environment.

Annual update of policy and procedures with the assistance of the Athletic Director.

Coordinate pre-participation physical exams for baseline concussion testing.

Athletic Department CPR/First Aid/AED certification coordinator.

Responsible for keeping track of each coach/staff certification and renewal

Coordination of CPR/First Aid/AED instruction

Responsible for all paperwork submission and distribut
