What’s the job?
This is an exciting role with exposure to multi-segment business opportunities. The Business Development Manager is responsible for qualifying Groups & Events (MICE) leads, sporting groups, as well as wholesale & leisure. Fully responsible for tailoring winning proposals and conducting negotiations to ensure the best business is converted at the right time. To ensure a high level of repeat business for the hotel, you’ll also focus on proactively targeting new and existing clients, building sustainable relationships and working strategically to identify ongoing business opportunities. Working with a supportive and successful Director of Sales and wider S&M team, this is a great role as a career step up or for a seasoned BDM to continue a successful career.
What we need from you
The right to work in Australia is essential
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree in Marketing, Business or Hospitality Management
Undertaken formal Sales Management training
Minimum two years of experience in a sales capacity in global brand hotels or large-scale venues within Australasia
Comprehension of Hotel systems and revenue management principles
Proactive approach to developing and maintaining strong relations with clients and stakeholders at all organizational levels
In-depth knowledge of sales principles and techniques relevant to the hotel industry
Strong business ethics and principles to strictly adhere to IHG policy related Responsible Business
Strong presentation, negotiation and communication skills
Strong understanding of all aspects of sourcing new business and strategies for key account management
Demonstrated ability to interact with customers, employees and third parties to reflect well on the Hotel, the brand and IHG
Successful track record of results, stimulation of higher performance standards and vigorous pursuit of organizational and personal goals
Strong business acumen
Flexible work approach and effective working autonomously and within a team
Strong influencer and persuader
