Microsoft’s Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) organization is the engine that powers our cloud services. Our data center construction team is dedicated to delivering the highest quality data centers for our cloud services. As we continue to revolutionize the way construction projects are planned, managed, and executed, we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Construction Coordinator to join our diverse and inclusive team. This role will play a crucial part in ensuring a safe and efficient work site.

The Construction Coordinator will be responsible for all aspects of construction planning, logistics supply chain, equipment stores management and deliveries, document control, development and optimization of construction planning and logistics solutions to meet the project's needs. Working collaboratively with our construction, procurement, and engineering teams, you will ensure that our day-to-day movement of people, equipment, and materials adheres to our highest standards of performance and safety. 

In your role you will report directly to the Construction Manager and work across all projects on the site to ensure consistency in the planning and execution of construction activities.

Responsibilities

Planning:

• Plan site set-up to move labor and materials around site efficiently (eg cranes, hoists, security, temporary services, material delivery and waste management strategy).

• Plan logistics routes through the project phases focusing on separation of vehicles, machinery, and people. Lay down areas and offloading points.

• Plan document management system and administration,

• Plan for the successful operation of construction activities adjacent operational Data Centre facilities

Mobilization:

• Responsible for all traffic management and road network cleanliness,

• Create a schedule of logistics meetings and ensure logistics is represented at site meetings,

• Co-ordinate construction works with the General Contractor and internal stakeholders,

• Establish and implement document management systems, process and workflows

Supply Chain / Delivery Management:

• Produce daily, weekly, and long-term movements plans.

• Understand procurement arrangements.

• Control critical equipment movement in and out of site.

• Plan and integrate with key contractors to meet the needs of the planned program and de-confliction of onsite space and time where appropriate.

• Responsible for ensuring logistics activities are not a constraining factor on the program, where deemed unavoidable, ensuring the issues are communicated so that de-confliction can occur.

• Create appropriate logistics awareness training and deliver to site workforce via presentation/TBTs as required.

• Responsible for ensuring that material movement to and from the workface does not cause damage to the work, the workforce or the public.

Site Communication:

• Create a system to communicate information around the site. For example, noticeboards, email distribution lists, monitor displays, web pages.

• Define and organize all site signage to the agreed corporate standard.

• Ensure that signage and signage symbols used are internationally recognized.

• Ensure additional languages are used in signage to ensure messages are understood.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering or related field or equivalent alternative education, skills or practical experience.

  • 5+ years of progressive responsibility in construction of Mission Critical Facilities.

  • Experience working for a General Contractor or trade.

  • Strong Verbal and Written Communication Skills

  • Detailed understanding of Logistics planning, and industry system used for site management.

  • Detailed understanding of Document and workflow approval management systems.

  • Experience in directing and/or supporting the commissioning effort.

  • Ability to independently manage deadlines.

  • Ability to influence cross-discipline teams.

  • Construction Health & Safety Knowledge

  • Experience managing multiple large multi-faceted projects.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
