Your role

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, in this newly created position as Engineering Verification and Validation Manager, you will work as a hands-on leader, both leading and contributing to a team of experienced engineering professionals. You and your team will ensure the quality and standards of work achieved in the delivery of verification and validation services are accurate, timely and dedicated to meeting our company and Australian defence program requirements.

Key Responsibilities of your new role will include:

  • Team Leadership: grow and develop your team - supporting their career development goals, as they work to meet program and customer requirements aligned with our company Values.

  • Subject Matter Expert: apply your verification and validation expertise to deliver timely project outcomes; delivering superior quality of technical documentation to produce clear and concise content to meet required engineering and client standards.

  • Resource Management: Regularly review capabilities, performance, capacity, process, and system requirements against current and future needs, to identify and address gaps in conjunction with the management of the departmental budget.

  • Innovation: Lead and champion the development of new engineering practices, plans, techniques and technologies, systems and processes to deliver continuous improvement.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to influence and ensure that programs are delivered on time and in full. Plan and deliver associated products and services to meet assigned objectives.

Skills & Competencies:

Essential:

  • Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Science degree;

  • Prior technical leadership of engineering projects involving product development of complex systems, including hardware and software development, as well as full system integration.

  • Poven background in presenting data and disseminating information; influencing stakeholders, demonstrating technical expertise with at all levels with both internal and external stakeholder groups.

  • Prior experience leading a team and making programmatic and technical decisions.

  • Experience mentoring and supporting cross-functional engineering and project teams.

Desirable:

  • Experience and knowledge of command, control and communications systems within the Australian Defence environment. Knowledge of tactical data links will be highly regarded.

  • Demonstrated success developing and delivering complex, high technology products involving software, hardware and integrated systems, preferably in an Australian Defence environment.

  • Demonstrated experience as a systems engineer throughout the entire systems development process, including requirements capture, design, decomposition, integration, and verification/validation, as well as transition to production.

  • Familiarity with engineering development in an agile and DEVSECOPS environment.
