Amazon Finance Manager, FinOps BP - APAC Retail in Sydney, Australia

Amazon Australia is hiring a Finance Manager for the Finance Operations Business Partnership team (FinOps BP) based in Sydney who drives financial controllership for the end-to-end retail related FinOps process including accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivables (AR). In addition, FinOps BP team drives relentless process improvement activities that enables us to support expanding business demand. Finance Operations (FinOps) is one of the core organizations in the Amazon Finance Community. The organization roles up to the VP of Global Finance Operations who directly reports to SVP & CFO of WW Amazon. FinOps consists of a variety of Finance and Accounting operations including technical expertise of financial management. Business Partnership (BP) is the liaison function between business operations and core F&A expertise including FinOps service center (SC) operations.

Key job responsibilities

This position is a part of FinOps APAC Retail BP team which support APAC Retail Business. And it is the front line of our Australia retail AP and AR operations involved in the monitoring of payments and receivables as well as driving end-to-end improvements focusing on upstream projects. This position will manage projects and collaborate with various Amazon business and technical owners globally along with day-to-day operations such as problem-solving and handling inquiries and escalations. The expected tasks in “project” include but is not limited to analysis, change management, process improvement, and creation of management information metrics and dashboards. Process improvements cover various areas such as timeliness and accuracy of our payment, cost per transaction, vendor satisfaction, and controllership. An ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding work environment is critical to this role. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, a quick learner, and will have the ability to efficiently manage various high-priority and visible projects and operational tasks.

A day in the life

OPERATIONS

· Manage any systematic and operational issues during invoice processing

· Support daily execution of vendor payments from Australia to vendors globally

· Maintain end to end responsibility of key AP, AR processes and work with technology teams to understand, measure and improve support systems

· Respond to vendors’ and internal inquiries with focus on high customer satisfaction

· Provide controllership for the business teams to ensure that policies and procedures are met

About the team

PROJECTS

· Support offshore transactional teams with root cause identification, identifying appropriate remediation and execute on a project plan with appropriate level of urgency

· Serve as a key business partner working directly with business leaders and cross-functional teams, presenting results of ad-hoc business and statistical analysis and recommendations to senior management for optimal decision making

· Maintain project plans, assigning and tracking tasks to respective teams. Locate and identify sources of data, determine the validity of the data, and analyze the variance in the data between various systems and reports. Exceptional discipline of meeting deadlines while managing multiple projects

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of multiple finance and accounting roles experience

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field, or Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance) experience

  • 7+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience

  • 7+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience

  • 7+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience

  • 5+ years of Accounts Receivable or Account Payable experience

  • Experience communicating results to senior leadership

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience

  • 5+ years of controllership or compliance experience

  • Experience with process improvement, Kaizan, and Six Sigma

  • 5+ years of SOX and/or Audit engagements experience

  • MBA, or CPA
