Hilton Finance Manager in Sydney, Australia

Hilton Sydney's Finance Manager will be responsible for the accounting and financial requirements of the hotel in an environment of tight control. The Finance Manager will be responsible to manage, control, and ensure smooth and effective finance operations including day to day work routines, forecasting and budgeting processes, and delivery of accurate month end reporting.

What will I be doing?

As the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Performing all month end procedures and reporting in an accurate and timely manner including review of journal vouchers, trial balances, general ledgers and P&Ls.
  • Taking an active role in the daily activities of the department and wider hotel, ensuring that all work is up to date and assisting team members and hotel leaders where required.
  • Ensuring compliance for all statutory reporting including BAS, FBT, and tax reporting.
  • Completing balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Ensuring all work is performed in accordance with Hilton Worldwide policies, statutory and fiscal requirements and timetables.
  • Maintaining robust internal controls, providing an effective and efficient control over the hotel’s assets, liabilities, revenues and costs.
  • Actively ensure SOX procedures are complied with including performing quarterly SOX self-audits and any compliance issues are followed up and resolved.
  • Act as the main liaison for audits, ensuring the successful completion of both internal and external audits.
  • Assisting in continuous review and development of best practices for financial accounting and control procedures.
  • Assisting the Director of Finance in providing support on financial and commercial matters to the General Manager and hotel team, including the interpretation of financial data.
  • Assisting the Director of Finance in developing high quality management information and performance management that is timely and accurate.
  • Effectively managing the daily revenue, payroll and expense reporting process in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Performing reviews on daily reports and following up on any errors and issues to ensure timely rectification.
  • Preparing forecasts including weekly forecasts, monthly rolling forecasts, and the annual operational & capital budget.
  • Performing data analysis, identifying trends and reporting any variances or issues to the Director of Finance.
  • Monitoring compliance of the Finance function and reporting any exceptions to the Director of Finance.
  • Conducting financial acumen training for hotel team members.

  • Tertiary qualifications, or other collegiate-level degree, in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field.
  • Strong administration and communication skills.
  • Proficiency, at an advanced level, with computers and computer programs, including Microsoft programs (Excel and Word).
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, while multi-tasking and delivering work on time.
  • Ability to work productively despite multiple interruptions.
  • Demonstrated trust and integrity in dealing with cash, payments and financial reporting.
  • Demonstrates positive involvement and interaction with the overall Hilton team both at an individual, team & management level.
  • Maintain a high customer service focus by approaching your job with the guests always in mind.
