Amazon Sr. Product Safety & Compliance Manager , Trustworthy Shopping Experience (TSE) in Sydney, Australia

Description

We are looking for a Sr. Product Safety and Compliance (PSC) Manager to support our rapidly growing businesses. The Sr. PSC Manager works to ensure the safety of products available to our customers by delivering innovative solutions to stay compliance, redefining industry best practices and standards, and safely enabling business growth.

This role requires good understanding of product compliance, regulatory affairs and consumer rights. He/she is also required to partner with legal and public policy teams in engaging with consumer and industry associations, develop and lead the customer trust strategy, identify opportunities to improve technology and coordinate improvements with the products team. In addition, this role will also collaborate with a variety of stakeholders across organizations including regional and global compliance program, legal, operations, business and technical team to define the strategy, requirements, and execution of the program to resolve compliance gaps and drive new compliance initiatives.

The right candidate is highly organized with strong attention to detail, passionate about product safety and compliance, loves solving complex problems, and is excited about improving customer trust. You have a strong ability to communicate effectively (both orally and in written form) and have experience influencing without authority. You are a strategic thinker with a proven track record of taking end-to-end ownership, planning both for the short-and long term, and successfully delivering results with limited guidance.

Key job responsibilities

• Support strategic customer trust activities, such as outreach and relationship building with regulators, industry and consumer associations, and internal Amazon policy requirements.

• Manage and resolve regulatory, legal, safety and supplier escalations.

• Advocating for customer safety across programs and processes.

• Deep dive specific product safety and compliance related requirements (e.g. external regulatory and internal Amazon policy requirements) and make data-driven compliance solution towards customer safety

• Work with cross-functional teams to ensure requirements are well-defined and projects are carried out to timely delivery, owns full initiative lifecycle from initiation through completion.

• Ensure closed loop processes are in place both internally and externally to address identified regulatory risks, fix identified defects, review and restrict unsafe or non-compliant products within Amazon systems and processes.

• Identify and lead PSC improvement projects, eliminating excess processes, driving efficiencies and creating predicable process controls and processes (including automated tools and systems) to support improving state of compliance, business expansion and program efficiency.

• Identify needs for scalable tech solutions and influence stakeholders to drive tools availability and effectiveness, and ensure they are surfaced to the correct teams with the right supporting data in a timely manner.

• Develop and improve mechanisms for continuous improvement on product safety, compliance and customer trust.

Product Safety and Compliance (PSC) is one of the programs under TSE. We are looking for a Sr. PSC Manager to join in TSE APAC team.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

  • 6+ years of risk management experience including 3+ years in Legal, Public Policy Product Safety, Quality Assurance, consumer product compliance/safety related risk management experience.

  • In depth knowledge of international and Australian Consumer Law requirements, product safety legislation and consumer product safety issues in at least one category or consumer products, and the interplay with consumer rights and public policy.

  • 3+ years of experience in project management with culturally diverse teams.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, confident presentation style and excellent document preparation skills.

  • Ability to think critically about risk management and develop content that meet business objectives, work independently and autonomously navigating problem, solution and strategy that are not well-defined. Delivering independently, with limited guidance.

  • Ambitious self-starter who can work objectively with integrity and high degree of legal awareness.

  • Proven ability to earn trust and work collaboratively both cross-functionally and vertically within an organization.

  • Strong ability in using common desktop software applications, curiosity and ability to learn new technology and subject matter areas.

  • Resilient and able to thrive and lead in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or related advanced degree in Political studies or Law

  • Functional knowledge of Australian Regulatory and Safety requirements across additional categories of consumer products.

  • 5+ years of experience in project management with culturally diverse teams.

  • Experience interfacing with regulators and industry associations including but not limited to the ACCC, state-based consumer protection agencies, Choice, National Retailers Association.

  • Experience driving process improvement with scalable technology solutions.

  • Track record in advocacy and managing change in complex organizations.
