The Opportunity

Our location in Sylmar, CA, currently has an opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer I .

Working under general supervision, is responsible for the use of multidisciplinary engineering knowledge to contribute to a team designing and developing innovative medical devices or components/subsystems in support of company's strategic plan.. Work requires the application of theoretical principles and creative/analytical techniques typically acquired in a recognized four-year or more academic course of study. Applies engineering and scientific principles to the evaluation and solution of technical problems. Exercises an appropriate level of technical judgment in planning, organizing, performing and coordinating product development engineering assignments. Performs engineering studies. Stays abreast of and communicates technical advancements to colleagues and associates. Identifies and routinely uses the most effective, cost efficient and best practices to execute designs and processes; continually evaluates their effectiveness and appropriateness.

What You’ll Work On

  • Design parts to meet specific design goals.

  • Use empirical and experimental analysis to evaluate designs.

  • Involved in test method and model development.

  • Identify potential issues with designs.

  • Work with internal departments and outside vendors to obtain prototype parts.

  • Support invention disclosures.

  • Support pre-clinical and clinical testing of devices.

  • Support design reviews and physician visits.

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute activity in support of project goals.

  • Gain an understanding of the developing clinical environment (i.e. current treatment methods, evolving clinical needs etc.).

  • Gain an understanding of the quality and regulatory requirements of division, FDA and ISO regulations.

  • Independently manage time and completion of assigned tasks.

  • Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.

  • Comply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.

Required Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of experience designing and testing medical devices.

  • Associates Degree

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and evaluate technologically complex devices.

  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.

  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.

  • Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.

  • Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.

  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.

  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.

  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model.

  • Experience with machine tool and/or molding concepts.

  • Experience within an operations focused environment.

  • Exposure to a variety of manufacturing processes and designing for manufacturability.

The base pay for this position is $55,200.00 – $110,400.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
