ProMedica Health System Manager - School Nurse Program - Full Time in Sylvania, Ohio
POSITION SUMMARY
The Manager, School Nurse Program will be responsible to manage and direct school nurse personnel at all contracted school systems. The Manager is also responsible to provide direct care to the students in the school setting. This includes, but not limited to care of students with injuries, acute illnesses, and long-term chronic management for students with special health care needs. Must meet the preventative and chronic health needs of patients’ through relationship development, health promotion, education, and counseling.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Assign, schedule, and monitor attendance and payroll for all nursing staff at schools and school systems. Oversee clinical care provided by school nurses. Oversee school nurse program inventory needs, stock levels, and necessary paperwork; Oversee processes for dispensation, tracking and ordering of supplies and medications. Onboard and train new and current school nursing staff on best practices and new regulations on school nursing policies and procedures. Interact and communicate with appropriate school administrators, teachers, and faculty regarding school, local/regional/state, and national healthcare policies as pertaining to school nurses and student safety. Work collaboratively with 360 Management, Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, and other ProMedica support departments in regard to recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, and progressive discipline processes.
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Skills:
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. Thorough knowledge of nursing skills with commitment to working with children. Flexibility, organization, good decision-making, and problem-solving skills. Interpersonal skills with diverse populations. Ability to cooperate and coordinate with others. Ability to interpret and implement policies and procedural directives.
Years of Experience: 2 years of nursing experience is preferred, preferably in pediatric, school health or public health nursing. At least 2 years management/leadership experience.
License: Active Registered Nurse License in the state of Ohio with a BSN or higher degree. Must be registered and licensed with Department of Education and pass all required background checks before starting. Valid driver’s license.
Certification: Must be willing to enroll in Ohio School Nurse Certification Program within 2 years of employment.
