SUNY Upstate Medical University 2023-2024 Federal Work Study - Laboratory Aide in Syracuse, New York

Job Summary:

This is a support position for the SUNY Upstate Brain Tumor Laboratory and Biorepository. The Aide will carry out a variety of support functions such as:

1) wet-lab assistance (preparing glassware, checking cultured cells, maintaining laboratory stocks, etc.);

2) tumor bank organization (data entry, validation of medical reports); and

3) inventory management (orders, reagents, and tissue specimens).

After a year of successful lab work, skilled Aides will be offered the opportunity to engage in research projects if they have the interest and ability to do so.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be a current student enrolled at Upstate Medical University and approved for financial aid through the Student Financial Aid office at Upstate.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience in a wet-lab research laboratory in the fields of biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, or pathology is highly desired.

Work Days:

This is a part-time appointment with a time requirement of 4 - 8 hours (one to two half-days) per week, during weekdays. Timing of this appointment is flexible.

Compensation Options

$16/HR
