AVP, Mortgage Loan Officer

The AVP, Mortgage Loan Officer is responsible for developing relationships to meet the housing needs of the Bank’s existing and prospective customers. This position meets with customers for the purpose of originating residential mortgage and home equity loans. In addition, this position is responsible for working with processing and underwriting staff to ensure an efficient loan process.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to deal with various people and situations, strong organizational skills and have superior customer service skills. This position also requires an individual with strong relationship building abilities and communication skills.

This is primarily an on-site position located at the Solvay Bank Corporate Office.

Loan Officer Mortgages

SUMMARY:

Develops relationships with real estate salespeople, builders, brokers, attorneys and other community resources. Solicits new residential mortgage business and promotes Solvay Bank products, while providing excellent customer service to those seeking residential mortgage and home equity loans.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interviews applicants and gathers financial information to assist in determining optimal loan product(s) to meet the client's needs.

  • Originates permanent, conventional residential mortgage and Home Equity loans.

  • Keeps informed on trends and developments in the real estate market, as well as changes in regulatory and investor rules and standards.

  • Supports the processing and underwriting staff in expediting the loan process.

  • Determines and achieves specific goals and projects to improve department process and productivity.

  • Participates in related business development activities.

  • Performs other tasks as requested by manager as they relate to the bank and its functions.

  • Adheres to Federal, State and local laws and regulations and bank policies and procedures.

    NECESSARY SKILLS:

  • Ability to deal effectively and flexibly with customer scenarios and unusual situations.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to be flexible.

  • Excellent knowledge of banking products and services.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong customer service skill set.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • 4 year college degree or equivalent banking/lending experience.

  • 2-3 years residential mortgage lending experience.

  • Loan origination experience.
