Description We are in the healthcare industry, located in Tacoma, Washington, and are seeking a Medical Billing Specialist. This role involves meticulous data handling, billing, and customer service tasks. The selected individual will be expected to handle data input, manual and electronic billing, patient account management, and provide customer service related to patient accounts. This is a short-term contract opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Input data using a computerized billing information system.

• Manually and electronically bill claims to third parties.

• Prepare and process patient statements.

• Post payments to accounts and re-bill claims as necessary.

• Provide customer service to patients regarding their accounts.

• Verify the accuracy and completeness of charges entered by clinic support staff.

• Provide training and technical support to clinic staff when necessary.

• Offer feedback on documentation flow for system development and enhancement.

• Report software problems and collaborate with software vendors to implement corrections.

• Handle routine maintenance of the computer system, including system backup and daily and monthly closing procedures.

• Complete special projects and other related duties as assigned. Requirements • Must possess proficiency in Allscripts, Cerner Technologies, Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE), EHR SYSTEM, and Epaces.

• Demonstrable experience in Accounts Receivable (AR), Appeals, Benefit Functions, Billing Functions, and Claim Administration.

• Ability to analyze billing and financial data.

• Experience in medical billing and coding.

• Familiarity with health insurance policies and procedures.

• Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize work.

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

• Strong ethical standards and a high level of integrity.

• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.

• Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

• Certification in medical billing or coding may be required.
