Talladega College Assistant Professor of Computer Science in Talladega, Alabama

Assistant Professor of Computer Science Talladega College is seeking an Assistant Professor to teach Cybersecurity courses in the Computer Science program. This is a tenure-track position reporting to the Department Chair and is slated to begin as early as spring 2024, but no later than fall 2024.

The campus is on a plateau about 700 feet above sea level in the heart of a fertile valley in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is a quiet place - away from the distractions and fast pace of urban living, yet conveniently close to neighboring cities that offer extensive cultural and entertainment outlets as well as shopping, restaurants, and theaters. The college is just 25 miles south of the city of Anniston, Alabama, 50 miles east of Birmingham, Alabama, 85 miles north of Montgomery, Alabama, and 100 miles west of Atlanta, Georgia.

Responsibilities Commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching. Teaching introductory to advanced undergraduate cybersecurity classes. Teaching responsibilities include Ethical Hacking, Digital Forensics, Network Security, Information Assurance, and other computer information science courses as assigned. Teaching schedules may include in person, online, or hybrid instruction. Teaching responsibilities to include innovative and engaging use of technology in the classroom. Participation in curriculum development, academic mentoring, department and division activities, and support of college activities. Active service on department, division, and college committees. Engagement in professional development. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications MS in Cybersecurity, Computer Science (with cybersecurity concentration) or a related field from a regionally accredited institution. PhD Preferred. Three years experience in higher education. A collaborative and inclusive approach to working with colleagues and students, promoting diversity and equity. Applicants with an interest in Ethical Hacking and Networking are preferred. The ideal candidate will have excellent teaching skills, good interpersonal skills, effective written and oral communication skills and the ability to function collegially as a member of the faculty. Industry and entrepreneurial experience is useful.
