What you will do:

In this Director role, you will oversee highly analytical work to support the Department by planning and evaluating performance to improve management capabilities and operational procedures.

How you will make an impact :

  • Supervise and direct the preparation of a variety of financial reports and statements including monthly, quarterly and annual reports. Analyze financial information.

  • Identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures and implement improvements.

  • Consult with federal, state and local officials on matters applicable to the assigned area of specialization.

  • Ensure technical assistance is provided for Department contract managers and Community Based Care (CBC) lead agency financial staff on the properreporting of allowable costs per federal regulations, state laws, Department rules and contract requirements.

  • Read and intrepret changes to federal and state laws affecting funding and expenditures in CBC lead agency contracts in order to identify changes to Department policies and procedures, financial guidance, documents and forms created for gathering financial information from lead agencies.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent experience.

  • Seven (7) years of experience using financial and analytical reporting models and reporting allowable costs per federal regulations, state laws, rules, and contract requirements.

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.

    Preferences:

  • Experience managing and directing staff.

  • Certification such as a CPA, CFA or CIA.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position.

  • Knowledge of applicable Federal Awards and State of Florida statutes, laws and rules.

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.

  • Knowledge of and ability to use pc-based applications such as worksheet (Excel) applications to track and analyze budget and expenditure information from lead agencies. Knowledge of the methods of data collection and analysis.

  • Knowledge of basic management principles and practices.

  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document work flow and other activities relating to the improvement of management practices.

  • Ability to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents and other written materials.

  • Ability to conduct fact-finding research. Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.

  • Ability to work independently. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. Ability to communicate effectively.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

  • Ability to communicate complex cost concepts to internal and external offices which include Lead Agencies.
