CORRECTIONAL SERVICES ASSISTANT CONSULTANT – 70043844

**INTERNAL OPPORTUNITY ONLY– Must be currently employed with the Florida Department of Corrections to be considered for this position.

This advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office Tallahassee FL in the Admission and Release department.

Salary Rate: $39,321.10 annually

SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Independently audit commitment documents to ensure data base accurately reflects the correct sentencing information and release date calculation and is in compliance with Florida Statutes and Case Laws.

  • Verifies tentative release date calculations by using manual computation procedures.

  • Communicates with Criminal Justice Agencies, Judges, State, Public and Private Attorneys and Clerk of Court Staff to clarify sentence structure and request missing documents, as needed.

  • Assists Supervisor with Code/Load/Emergency and upfront time served new commitments.

  • Assists with preparing presentations and training new admission & release auditors. Reviews/Evaluates/Responds to Institutional Staff, Family members, other public and agency inquires regarding sentencing. Performs in depth research.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently employed with The Florida Department of Corrections

  • Experience with release date calculations/sentence structure/ Florida statutes and Case Law applicable to sentencing is preferred.

  • Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
