Instrumentation Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Instrumentation Technician to perform a variety of instrumentation and automation services, including troubleshooting, calibration, installation, testing, and commissioning. This role involves working with computerized equipment and software, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, and assisting with installation and maintenance projects for automating large industrial processes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of instrumentation and automation services including troubleshooting, calibration, installation, testing, and commissioning.

  • Troubleshoot instrumentation functionality and I/O devices, repairing instrumentation typically involving calibration using various meters and tools.

  • Set up new instrumentation and calibrate specifications using schematics and drawings.

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of test apparatus and peripheral equipment.

  • Assist with related installation and maintenance projects for automating large industrial processes.

  • Use computerized equipment and software to perform testing functions and produce reports.

  • Work with engineers on testing and commissioning PLC systems.

Essential Skills

  • 2 years experience as an instrumentation technician.

  • Technical knowledge of the operation of AC and DC drives.

  • Understanding of speed feedback devices theory and applications.

  • Understanding of temperature control and temperature components.

  • Good understanding of PID and control loops.

  • Proficient in Ethernet communications and connections.

  • Proficient in PLC and HMI systems, including communication drivers and connections, PLC program navigation, and controlled manipulation.

  • Thorough understanding of all electrical components and electronic devices.

  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose defective components, motors, drives, and electronic components.

  • Ability to use diagnostic equipment effectively.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with instrument installation, calibration, system checks, and loop checks.

  • Familiarity with Hart Communicator, CCST, blueprints, cable, and electrical wiring.

Work Environment

This role involves working in both outside and inside construction environments. Approximately 70% of the work will be local to San Antonio, with per diem applicable for work outside the local area. The position aims to transition from temporary to permanent after six months of service.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Austin, Texas.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00
