UTHealth Houston School of Public Health invites applications at the Associate Professor or Professor level in the Department ofEnvironmental and Occupational Health Scienceswith affiliation in theSouthwest Center for Occupational and Environmental Health (SWCOEH). The School of Public Health is one of seven schools within UTHealth Houston and has six locations throughout Texas in Austin, Brownsville, Dallas, El Paso, Houston, and San Antonio.

The new faculty will join the Houston location, with a cross-appointment with the Division of General Internal MedicineatMcGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. The School of Public Health location and McGovern Medical School are in the world-renownedTexas Medical Center, the largest medical center in the world. Houston is the fourth largest city in the United States and boasts a strong economy (www.houstontx.gov) with diverse business profiles across major industry sectors (www.houston.org).

Position Key Accountabilities:

Candidates will be expected to initiate and lead an independent, extramurally funded research program of international caliber in occupational medicine and a history of external research funding.

The research environment at UTHealth Houston provides unparalleled opportunities to collaborate with multidisciplinary researchers within the institution and with other institutions in the Texas Medical Center. Collaborative opportunities are available within specialized research centers, including the SWCOEH. The SWCOEH was established in 1977 as a NIOSH Education and Research Center with an approved ACGME-accredited 2-year Occupational and Environmental Medicine Residency program that has operated continuously for the last 47 years.

Qualifications:

Candidatesfor the occupational medicine position should possess an MD degree, hold current board certification in Occupational Medicine/Preventive Medicine by the American Board of Preventive Medicine and be eligible for Texas medical licensure. The selected candidate will be expected to contribute to all missions of the School of Public Health which include education, research, and service.
