WSP USA Electrical Drafter, Transmission & Distribution in Thornhill, Ontario
The Opportunity:
WSP's ERI (Energy, Resources and Industry) Sector has an opportunity for an Electrical Drafter to join our Power Team in Ontario. Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager, this position will be responsible to provide design, drafting and modelling capabilities to the Transmission and Distribution design team.
The Transmission and Distribution Team services utility clients in the power distribution and transmission, transportation and transit, buildings, along with other institutional and government clients. You will apply your electrical design and drafting knowledge to electrical project work from conceptual design through completion. Technical quality, cost effectiveness, and team working attitude are integral parts of this role. The ideal candidate will have electrical drafting experience with an ability to work with minimal supervision, from early stages of a project to the final designs certified for construction and be able organized and able to manage multiple competing deadlines.

What you can expect to do here:
Drafting substation design documents including but not limited to:
Single line diagram
Electrical protection and control schematics
Panels wiring diagram
Panels layout and equipment arrangement
AC and DC panels schedules
Cable and conduits diagrams
Cable tray system design
Cable schedule
Bill of Material
Production of drawing and designs by AutoCAD and MicroStation;
Must be able to adapt the CAD standard of different clients
Ability to work with a minimum of instructions and complete tasks independently;
Coordination with various departments and disciplines required for project implementation;
Must possess a team player attitude and be able to work in project team environment.
What you’ll bring to WSP:
Minimum College Diploma or University Degree;
Desired Technical Skills and Experience:
At least 3 to 6 experience working on electrical projects;
Experience with AutoCAD and MicroStation is required;
Experience with electrical utility companies’ projects preferred (ie, Hydro One, Toronto Hydro, Alectra, etc.);
Experience with high voltage substation plan and profile drafting, Civil3D, Revit are an advantage;
Desired Soft Skills:
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships;
Team player but also able to work well under minimal supervision;
Ability to take initiative;
Organized and able to manage multiple competing deadlines;
Good budgeting skills
Good communication skills both written and verbal
