We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of a 3rd Class Stationary Engineer with our Chemical Plant located in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of 3rd Class Power Engineer within our Chemical Manufacturing Facility located in Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Operates and monitors all utility equipment located outside the boiler house.
  • Ensures that all utilities, i.e. steam, air, water, fire and waste systems are supplied to plant.
  • Operates cooling towers, refrigeration systems, air compressors, steam condensate collection systems and emergency diesel generators.
  • Conducts daily work activities in support of HSE objectives and policies.
  • Uses personal accountability to assist with carrying out duties, responsibilities, and authority as defined in HSE programs, practices and procedures.
  • Works safely, with respect to health and environmental requirements.
  • Diagnoses problems and determines possible solutions. 
  • Advises and assists maintenance as required.
  • Issues safety work permits as required.
  • Maintains daily log sheets, operational data, and charts for purpose s of record keeping as legislated.
  • Ensures that general housekeeping and minor maintenance is performed within the Utilities department.
  • Performs extra testing, adjustments and isolations when needed. 
  • Monitors area fire system for integrity.
  • Stationary engineer must respond to production support needs.
  • Performs water testing on wastewater and makes chemical feed rate adjustments based on practical theory.
  • Responds to system problems and corrects if possible.
  • Maintains information flow to the resin production shift supervisor, shift engineer (2nd) in the Boiler house and area operating personnel.

Qualifications

·       Successful completion of a 3rd Class Stationary Engineer license.

·       Experience with boilers, water & wastewater treatment, pumps, reciprocating air compressors, centrifugal compressors, cooling towers, refrigeration equipment, diesel generators and fire pumps.

·       Strong troubleshooting skills. 

·       Proficiency in Microsoft applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

·       Ability to read, write and speak in English.

·       Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team.

·       Required to work weekends, holidays and respond to callouts on a non-routine basis. 

·       Must be able to perform the manual duties required for this position including climbing ladders and stairs, walking, bending, standing and stooping. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
