Senior Manager, Corporate Affairs - Global Commercial Operations

Let’s do this! Let’s change the world! In this vital role you will report to the Director of GCO, Corporate Affairs. This senior manager will be responsible for supporting internal strategic communications and narrative development for Amgen’s global commercial organization to ensure staff are aligned to and understand the GCO vision, business priorities, and operating framework.
This is a US-based position which can be hybrid to the Thousand Oaks, CA area.
Key responsibilities include:
Support development of annual internal communications strategy and content calendar using input from key cross-functional partners; ensure business goals, initiatives and people news are communicated effectively and in line with our values; measure progress and adjust tactics as needed
Lead execution of virtual or in person staff engagement events or content development supporting business priorities (e.g. thought leadership online series, in-person panel sessions)
Support strategy and lead execution and for global commercial all staff meetings in partnership with Associate Vice President of Corporate Affairs
Develop creative and business content (e.g., slide presentations, memos, videos, internal website, etc.) to support various events and meetings
Support internal communications for Global, Marketing and Capabilities organization working closely with their operating team
Work closely with regional and country leads in the commercial network to ensure consistency, pull through of messaging, and resource efficiencies
Develop expertise on all communications vehicles available and best use case
Use data & analytics to understand staff behaviors to drive impactful communications that inspire, drive business results and/or result in behavior change
Partner with enterprise and other functional communications leads to adopt best-practice and standards for internal functional comms
Collaborate with Mission experiences team to complete staff engagement and annual Mission Week activities
Employ the latest methodologies and technologies to determine the best communication vehicles for intended audience
Lead strategy and execution of GCO internal website
Manage multiple agency partners and corresponding budgets across a range of projects
Collaborate with enterprise brand and internal communications leads to ensure consistency of messaging and brand; keep them apprised on GCO communications activities

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 2 years of Corporate Communications OR Corporate Affairs experience
Or
Master’s degree and 4 years of Corporate Communications OR Corporate Affairs experience
Or
Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of Corporate Communications OR Corporate Affairs experience
Or
Associate’s degree and 10 years of Corporate Communications OR Corporate Affairs experience
Or
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Corporate Communications OR Corporate Affairs experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Strategic and creative thinker with the ability to truly understand business challenges and priorities and develop actionable programs that integrate soundly with business objectives
Experience creating and executing strategic communication programs for a complex, matrixed organization
Ability to interact with all levels of management and staff
Ability to productively navigate a challenging and dynamic environment and deal with rapidly changing priorities
Excellent interpersonal skills; enthusiastic, teammate and self-starter; serious commitment to hard work and excellence
Outstanding written and oral communication skills; ability to distill complex issues and information into simple, compelling and relevant messages
Demonstrated experience using social media and digital collaboration tools for professional communication
3 or more years of experience in staff engagement, culture building, event planning and/or internal communications
2 or more years working on a global level and developing/executing plans for staff in multiple countries
Expertise in development of creative content in various forms including video, written (long and short form), PowerPoint, website and social media assets
8+ years of diverse experience in public relations, corporate communications, marketing, or other creative/content development field
3+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
