Horizon North- Chi Mino Ozhitoowin (CMO) Joint Venture Partnership:

Horizon North is partnered with Chi Mino Ozhitoowin (CMO) to provide an essential spectrum of camp, catering and infrastructure services to the Waasigan Transmission Line Project. CMO LP is owned by Eagle Lake, Lac La Croix, Fort William, Seine River, Lac Seul and Nigigoonsiminikaaning First Nations and Ojibway Nation of Saugeen. This partnership is rooted in the shared values of cultural preservation, community well-being and sustainable development and aims to harness the opportunities presented by the Waasigan Project. Through mutual understanding and collaboration we aim to support social-economic growth by offering meaningful employment and economic benefits for partner communities and individuals.

Job Description

WHAT'S THE JOB?

Reporting to the Camp Manager, the Camp Administrator acts in a managerial role providing support in the day-to-day camp operations and is responsible for the front desk services needs.

The position involves a remote work lifestyle in a camp setting with the following amenities:

  • All meals and accommodations are provided

  • Travel is provided to and from the site locations from designated locations in the Thunder Bay, Dryden and surrounding area

  • Private room with cable television

  • Access to Wi-Fi

  • Access to laundry facilities and detergents

  • Access to a gym and common areas

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage all room bookings; client check-ins and check outs

  • Compile weekly occupancy reports, variance reports, forecast occupancy based on reservations

  • Provide reports to Camp Manger and client

  • Provide coaching to all staff to ensure quality customer service and performance is provided to all guests and when interacting with our client

  • Development of housing desk duties and responsibilities – accountability for team

  • Answer inquiries regarding all departments within Housing from guests and the client

  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing special requests and concerns in a prompt and effective manner

  • Updating spending tracking sheets, camp billing, accounting and invoicing

  • Assist in managing the day-to-day activities of the camp

Qualifications

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Camp, hotel, or restaurant management experience is an asset

  • Knowledge of kitchen operations is an asset

  • Current Food Safety certification and First Aid certification is an asset

  • Exceptional oral and written communications skills

  • Working knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, GFS, etc.)

  • A team-player who is committed to providing client satisfaction

  • Must have valid government issued photo ID for travel to site

  • Must have an acceptable Criminal Records Check

  • Be able to handle the following physical demands:

  • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs

  • Climb ladders or stairs

  • Stand, walk, squat, kneel or sit according to task for extended lengths of time

  • Perform repetitive hand work requiring full use of both hands

  • Perform work with arms at full length

  • Work with arms above shoulder height

Work schedule and remuneration:

Camp Administrators work on a rotational schedule of 2 weeks on/2 weeks off. Site locations are in remote settings, requiring either air travel to site, or via ground on our shuttle. You may be required to work nights, weekdays, weekends, and general holidays. Wages are paid on an hourly basis with a starting rate of $26.00 per hour.
