Continental Resources Safety Specialist in Tioga, North Dakota

Job Summary

Responsible for coordinating and supporting H&S related efforts for field operations to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements and achieve operational and company business objectives. Position would be Monday thru Friday with weekend on-call schedule. Shift work is not available for this position.

Performs a range of straightforward assignments. Established knowledge of fundamental theories, principles and practices in the area of specialization. Exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to solve problems of moderate complexity; seeks assistance in resolving more complex issues. Works under a moderate level of supervision.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Field-based HSE Support: Position will assist in air, water, and waste programs at the field, regional or company level. This includes, but not is limited to LDAR, solid waste, TENORM, SWPPP, NPDES, SPCC, etc.

  • Assist in HSE management systems and corporate programs. Provide HSE leadership and support to CLR's Drilling, Completions, and Production Groups focusing on CLR's HSE policy.

  • Responsible for completing multi-media HSE regulatory activities that include monitoring, permitting, reporting, plan preparation and training.

  • Develop positive relationships with Governmental regulatory agencies and CLR's employees, and contractors.

  • Gathers samples from a variety of projects, following regulatory procedures.

  • Contractor Management: Supports local efforts in contractor safety management, plays a lead role in contractor communication and coordination as assigned, supports operations in pre-qualification efforts of vendors, conducts or participates in contractor safety meetings, communicates findings and field level observations to Supervisor for action, and supports Drug and Alcohol testing programs.

  • Field-based H&S Support: Provides visible field-based H&S support to assigned regional field operations, assists Supervisor in coaching and mentoring of personnel, supports maintaining day-to-day focus on meeting H&S requirements, works collaboratively to achieve goals and targets, participates in H&S meetings and specialized initiatives, assists in addressing H&S technical questions.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Position would require living in area.

  • Schedule would be Monday thru Friday with weekends on call. Shift work not available.

  • Some Health & Safety or related experience.

  • Clean motor vehicle record

  • An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Multimedia HSE experience

  • Oil and Gas industry experience

  • E&P experience

  • Strong computer skills

  • LDAR

  • Public speaking

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stoop, stand, walk, pull, carry instruments, and climb stairs and ladders for an extended period.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30lbs. without assistance.

  • Capable of driving distances of 150 miles or more per day during all types of weather conditions.

  • Ability to one arm carry up to 25lbs. without assistance.

  • Regular bending, crouching, pulling, and kneeling to check equipment and gauges.

  • Must be able to exert up to 40lbs. of force occasionally and up to 20 lbs. frequently to move or manipulate objects.

  • Ability to work significant amounts of time as required in completing job responsibilities.

  • Working environment includes exposure to extremely loud noises in the field, hazardous chemicals, and hydrocarbons that may be under extreme pressure for which appropriate safety measures are required.

  • The ability to inspect and have close visual acuity to perform activities.

  • Ability to work outside in adverse weather conditions for extended periods of time safely.

  • Work safely with machinery and equipment.
