Amgen Country Medical Affairs Lead (CMAL) for Oncology Solid tumor in Tokyo, Japan

Job Description:

The primary objectives of CMAL are to foster, inspire, and energize their team to maximize Amgen's value propositions through exceptional medical and scientific expertise with key

scientific experts. CMAL is also responsible for developing and implementing a Medical Affairs plan through cross-functional collaboration by managing their team.

The specific objectives include:

■ Developing and executing the Medical Affairs plan and tracking activities in the Oncology Therapeutic Area (TA), which includes but is not limited to:

  • Strategic evidence generation and publication

  • Scientific engagement with health care professionals

  • Strategic collaboration with internal and external stakeholders

■ Fostering and managing their team members

■ Establishing strong leadership among cross-functional teams to lead the success of the products throughout their product life cycle

■ Ensuring their team activities follow all relevant regulations

Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree (e.g., PhD, MD) is preferred, or a strong demonstration of an equivalent combination of relevant educational and professional training.

  • Medical or scientific education or experience in similar positions.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the industry or a research institute in the relevant Therapeutic Area (TA).

  • At least 5 years of experience in Medical Affairs or R&D.

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in team or people management.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly and effectively present information.

  • Proficient in written and spoken English.

Knowledge:

  • Proven scientific expertise in the relevant TA, related products, disease states, and knowledge of the latest discoveries.

  • Understanding of medical affairs business processes.

  • Thorough understanding of the healthcare system and decision-making processes.

  • Extensive knowledge of clinical research, drug safety, legal and compliance environments, and patient benefits.

  • Strong coaching and leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a similar role.

  • Experience in clinical trial management or basic research for drug development.

  • Established relevant customer networks.

  • Ability to drive decision-making.

  • Experience in matrix organization management.

  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams.
