Job Description:
The Japan Country Logistics Leader will oversee and manage all logistics operations within Japan, ensuring efficient and effective distribution of products. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills to drive continuous improvement in logistics processes and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Drive logistics transformation in Japan to ensure effective distribution and cost efficiency.
Lead as chief change agent for strategic initiatives for logistics transformation within 3M Japan.
Develop and implement logistics strategies to support the company's business objectives in Japan.
Oversee all logistics operations, including warehousing, transportation, and distribution.
Manage relationships with logistics service providers and negotiate contracts to optimize costs and service levels.
Monitor and analyze logistics performance metrics to identify areas for improvement.
Lead and develop a high-performing logistics team, providing coaching and mentoring.
Collaborate with other departments, such as supply chain, sales, and customer service, to ensure seamless operations.
Implement and maintain best practices in logistics and supply chain management.
Prepare and manage the logistics budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
Stay updated on industry trends and innovations to drive continuous improvement.
Ensure compliance with local and international regulations and standards.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
Minimum of 15 years of experience in logistics or supply chain management, with at least 10 years in a leadership role.
Strong knowledge of logistics operations, including warehousing, transportation, and distribution.
Excellent leadership and team management skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Proficiency in logistics software and systems, including SAP.
Experience with logistics technology and innovations.
Fluent in Japanese and English.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the manufacturing or consumer goods industry.
Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
Experience with international logistics and customs regulations.
Working Conditions:
This position is based in Shinagawa Tokyo, Japan, with occasional travel within the country as required.
The role may require working outside of regular business hours to meet operational needs.
