Nutanix Manager, Systems Engineering - Channel in Tokyo, Japan

The Opportunity

The Nutanix Channel Systems Engineering Manager (SEM) is a technical field position that is a resource for the Japan region and will provide leadership to the Channel System Engineers throughout the region.

The Channel SEM will have leadership responsibility for the CSEs within the region, and will act as a working manager. It is expected that the Channel SEM can perform all of the functions that a Nutanix Systems Engineer does including presentations, architecture discussions, demonstrations and Proof of Concepts. The Channel SEM will act as the Systems Engineering resource for the Regional Channel Sales Leader and reports directly to the Director of Channel Engineering for the APAC.

There is occasional travel for team events but for the most part we stay connected through weekly meetings and daily slack chats.

Your Role

  • Lead a team of Channel Systems Engineers, being responsible for team enablement, team performance and actively involved in discussions and decision on performance management, talent review, promotions and more

  • Responsible to regularly collect and synthesize feedback from the team to help identify strength and opportunities for growth of the team members and advocate for their success

  • Responsible for onboarding team members, identifying ways to continuously improve their experience as they adapt to the team and company culture

  • Foster a team environment for continuous learning and improvement, offering mentoring and coaching to team members

  • Accountable to ensure the team members are complying with all administrative requirements of the role - reporting, expenses, reviews, filing data in tools

  • Support functional leadership team in analysis, planning for growth in new locations, new skills set or roles

  • Partner with recruiting team on hiring pipelines, managing candidates and continuously improving the interview process and the candidate experience

  • Responsible for ensuring partners success through ongoing partner enablement and meeting certification requirements

  • Alignment with Channel Sales leaders key strategy and objectives to ensure partners success with Nutanix portfolio and identify new business opportunities for partners

  • Be the executive touch-point for selected partners

  • Responsible to develop and maintain an active pipeline of partners business initiatives for the team

  • Supports Channel SE team in the field, for complex evaluations, troubleshooting and challenging customer environments

  • Provide a clear escalation point for pre-sales and post-sales technical sales issues

  • Build and maintain relationships with the key stakeholders across Nutanix sales, enablement, engineering, marketing and other business units to identify new opportunities for partners

What You Will Bring

  • Prior management experience is desirable.

  • Deep knowledge of the virtualization and storage markets as well as design capabilities are preferred.

  • Between 25 to 50% travel within the region.

  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills.

  • 'Whatever it takes' attitude and motivation to do whatever necessary to build and lead successful teams

  • BS CS/EE or related (or equivalent work experience).

  • 3+ years’ experience in managing Systems / Sales Engineers

  • 5-7+ years’ experience in a customer/partner facing technical role

  • Technical experience with virtualization technologies, data center consolidation, and/or server technologies is highly desirable

  • Team player with strong drive to build and maintain culture

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate professionally with partners, customers, and internal cross-functional teams including Sales, Marketing, and Engineering

  • A structured thinker with strong presentation and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, determine project urgency and execute detailed action plans

  • Highest level of personal and professional ethics and integrity

  • English language skills to communicate internally
