Red Hat Senior Project Manager - Technical in Tokyo, Japan
Job Summary:
The Red Hat Consulting team is looking for a Senior Project Manager to join us in Tokyo, Japan. In this role, you will manage complex projects within your assigned region to completion, from initiation through delivery to closure. You'll coordinate cross-functional teams and establish appropriate metrics for measuring key project criteria, as well as define, monitor, and review all project economics including costs, operational budgets, staffing requirements, resources, and risks. As a Project Manager, you’ll also help establish an organizational project management discipline and serve as an ambassador for the adoption of project management fundamentals, principles, and methodologies with Red Hat Services.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Integrate and use specific industry and technical delivery methodologies, e.g. project management methodologies based on PMI, Red Hat Services project management methodology, systems and software development, agile or scrum, etc.
Guide project planning, scheduling, monitoring, and reporting activities for Red Hat Services projects with minimal direction.
Manage one or more major projects while achieving utilization and revenue targets.
Understand market trends and competitive offerings and services, including what business problems they solve, their strengths, weaknesses, and value propositions, and how they compare and contrast to the Red Hat’s solutions portfolio.
Establish appropriate metrics for measuring key project criteria; develop project control and reporting procedures and manage changes in operational plans.
Staff projects with the relevant consultants and architects, considering required skills and level of experience.
Assist in training the project team on the application of appropriate procedures and processes; (coach and mentor lower level project managers).
Work with management on project proposals, bids, contracts, estimates, and schedules; contribute to the project estimation and review process.
Required Skills:
7+ years of experience in a project management role in IT-based projects
Bachelor’s degree in a related field
Knowledge of specific project management and technical delivery methodologies used in the IT industry
Solid interpersonal, leadership, and analytical skills; business insight
Great written and verbal communication skills; (add desired language skills)
Project management certification (is a plus)
Ability to work in a team as well as on your own; ability to motivate project team and individual contributors and mediate conflicts
Native Level Japanese speaking skill and business level English.
