DIRECTOR OF FINANCE | Toledo, OH

The Director of Finance is responsible for management and oversight of financial/business office functions, which include student accounts, general accounting, financial analysis and financial reporting for the Richmond Higher Education Institutions (RHEIs), Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing (BSMCON), Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital School of Medical Imaging (SOMI) and Southside College of Health Sciences (SCHS). S/he is responsible to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), RHEIs. The Director is responsible for maintaining efficient financial/business office operations, which includes, but is not limited to, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing student accounts; overseeing student account transactions; maintaining student account related policies, reviewing and approving general ledger account reconciliations, preparing monthly financial reporting package and compliance checklist, performing financial analysis, reconciling Bon Secours Richmond Health Care Foundation funds utilized for RHEIs scholarships, assisting with capital projects, assisting with internal and external audits, overseeing purchasing functions and participating in special projects as assigned by the CFO, RHEIs. This position provides supervision and direction of the Bursars and Senior Accountant. The Director is an innovative, analytical and strategic thinker with an open and collaborative style. S/he engenders trust, fosters teamwork, and sustains a focus on students.

Essential Job Functions

  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing the student account financial processes through day to day leadership, oversight, supervision and direction to team of direct reports. This includes, but is not limited to, Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended.

  • Oversees student account financial transactions which includes, but is not limited to, the scheduling and posting of charges (tuition, fees, and applicable discounts), posting of payments on student accounts, reviewing and approving any related financial refunds and managing third-party billing processes.

  • Maintains and ensures compliance with student account policies.

  • Manages RHEI purchasing functions.

  • Participates in annual internal and external audits related to the RHEIs.

  • Reviews and approves monthly, quarterly and/or annually general ledger account reconciliations with identification and resolution of any potential reconciling items.

  • Prepares monthly financial reporting package and compliance checklist.

  • Serves as financial liaison between Business Office and Bon Secours Richmond Health Care Foundation to prepare, review and reconcile scholarship and related RHEI fund transactions.

  • Participates in the annual budget creation process for the RHEIs.

  • Manages capital project planning needs for the RHEIs.

  • Prepares and analyzes financial reports for regulatory and accrediting agencies.

  • Assists with preparation of RHEI schedules utilized in the Medicare Cost Report for the owning hospitals.

  • Maintains RHEI contract listing and database.

  • Assists in special projects related to the Finance department needs of the RHEIs.

  • Supervises, directs, and reviews the work of assigned staff to ensure accuracy and timeliness of job responsibilities.

Required:

  • 4 year/ Bachelors Degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration

  • 5-7 years experience

  • Working knowledge of higher education regulations such as Title IV Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended. Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred:

  • Graduate Degree (Masters) in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration

Combination of post-secondary education and experience in lieu of a degree.
