Communications Leader Location(s): Toledo, OH, US, 43659-0001 Function: Communications Audience: Experienced Professional Work Arrangement: Hybrid Requisition ID: 62354 PURPOSE OF THE JOB The Business Communications Leader executes internal and external communication strategies and projects for the business they support. This position develops internal communications strategies to engage employees, communicate goals and milestones, and enhance leader connection, impact, and reputation. In addition, this role will lead external business communication by effectively managing messaging in the media (traditional and social media), working with executives on media opportunities (traditional and social), partnering with Marketing on trade opportunities, and protecting and enhancing the OC brand. Reports to: Director, Global Manufacturing & Business Communications Location: Hybrid; within driving distance of Toledo, Ohio preferred JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and implement an internal communication strategy, across various platforms that supports key leaders in the business to achieve defined objectives. [Approximate time: 40%] Develop, implement, and execute communication strategy for the business president and senior leaders of the company's business. Partner with these leaders and their leadership teams to effectively articulate our key growth strategies and business goals, and to ensure that employees understand how they connect and contribute - both individually and as a team - to the growth and success of the business. Assist leaders in developing and executing key communications including town halls, employee roundtables, internal announcements, and other internal communication deliverables associated with strategic initiatives. Develop key messaging and ensure consistency among leadership team. Align strategies, tactics and messages with business and other corporate function communication teams. Develop and analyze communication-related performance metrics to measure progress and to enhance future communications to better reflect what is most impactful. Support the internal communication strategy for best-in-class roofing products and services to achieve maximum reach and effectiveness, and ensure employees understand and take pride in business offerings. Develop and implement an external business media relations strategy that supports the business and enterprise external narrative. Serve as lead in business reputation enhancement and protection through proactive and reactive media relations. [Approximate time: 30%] Lead media and executive thought leadership for the business by identifying opportunities that position OC as leaders in the marketplace, increase awareness and enhance reputation. Research, write, and execute messaging, press releases, and briefing documents to support communication strategy. Effectively field and respond to media inquiries, coordinating with corporate communications as appropriate. Provide strategic communications counsel and action when handling crises in a calm and professional manner under potential high stress conditions, collaborating closely with local management and the corporate media team. Counsel and support marketing team in media relations strategy/opportunities surrounding key industry tradeshows in North America. Train business leaders and key spokespeople in media interview/interaction best practices.
