ProMedica Health System Security Officer - Toledo Hospital - Part Time - Variable in Toledo, Ohio
ProMedica Toledo Hospital is one of the largest acute-care facilities in the region. Our 794-bed hospital is staffed by more than 4,800 professional healthcare employees who serve a 27-county area throughout northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. Our Security Department, under general supervision, maintains the security of hospital property to ensure the safety of employees, patients and visitors against fire, theft and physical harm.
Provides security for all ProMedica properties, employees, patients, and visitors by patrolling assigned areas and acting when necessary. Monitoring conduct of visitors on ProMedica properties; questioning suspicious individuals when necessary.
Assists employees, staff, patients, and visitors. Must always promote customer service and satisfaction, treating all people in a courteous and professional manner.
Must adhere to all policies, procedures, objectives, and safety standards.
Regulates and controls all vehicular and pedestrian traffic, providing parking enforcement and traffic control when necessary.
Investigates and reports all accidents, safety/fire hazards and incidents involving loss, theft, damage, injury and recovered property. Prepares appropriate reports to document these incidents.
Must successfully complete all training required by ProMedica Health Systems and/or ProMedica Security Services as defined in organizational policies, procedures or by assignment. Must remain current in any certifications and knowledgeable in infection control and hazardous material measures. Must maintain annual fit testing requirements, CPR certification, and all other in-services required by JCAHO. Must maintain IAHSS Basic Security Officer Certification once received.
Must maintain knowledge of all equipment procedures and ensure that all issued equipment remains in serviceable and operational condition.
Secures and/or unlocks offices and facilities.
Unlocks vehicles and provides basic vehicle maintenance or assistance such as jump-starts and air in tires.
Provides escorts to personnel as needed.
Secures found items and valuables, completing appropriate documents to ensure their successful disposition within the system.
Assists with the restraint of combative patients as needed. Provides observation for patients as needed.
Attends meetings as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma/GED Required. Associates degree in security of a related field; or two years’ experience in security of a related field is preferred. Must deal effectively with a variety of patients, staff, customers and visitors, sometimes under potentially stressful situations. Must have the ability to work with diverse populations and possess exceptional interpersonal skills. Effective oral and written skills are required. Must be able to walk and stand for long periods. Must be able to understand directions, communicate and respond to inquiries, possess effective interpersonal skills. Requires a valid driver's license and a clean driving record, as demonstrated by a MVR (motor vehicle record) in order to be covered under the Company's insurance policy. Must be able to frequently move, lift or carry medium-weight materials or objects and with assistance occasionally move very heavy patients or individuals. Must possess and maintain physical fitness to provide for effective performance of the job. Must complete the Basic Security Officer Certification through IAHSS within six (6) months of appointment.
