Rate: $20.80

Shift Differential: $1.00

Hours: 6:00pm-6:30am

Under direct supervision of the shift Production Supervisor, this position will operate console that controls automatic palletizing equipment to sort, transfer, and stack on pallets containers/ cases of finished products. Reads production and delivery schedules and stacking pattern to determine sorting and transfer procedures, arrangement of packages on pallet, and destination of loaded pallet. Additional responsibilities will include troubleshooting palletizing equipment and keep robot cells clear of debris.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain an effective operation of the Palletizing System in such a way to minimize shutdown and/or disruption of the packaging process, which includes:

  • Appropriate set up for the product run.

  • Proper attention to pallet, slip-sheet and film dispensers.

  • Inspection of the machine (troubleshooting) for irregularities while in operation.

  • Making any necessary adjustments/corrections to compensate for problems in process.

  • Watch for open boxes and damaged product, notifying supervision of any irregularities.

  • Operation of a forklift to unload trailers and keep pallet dispensers full ( IF REQUIRED )

  • Clean and maintain the Palletizing System and surrounding area daily, ensure that work areas are clean that Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) are full complied with.

  • Assure final palletized product quality meets Winland Foods Private Brands specifications.

  • Load slip sheets into dispensers.

  • Cycle count inventories when needed.

  • Responsible for ensuring equipment is properly maintained in order to manufacture safe, legal and quality product.

  • Ensure compliance with all safety programs and maintain hazard free work areas.

  • Informs supervisor of equipment malfunction.

  • Keep record of production and equipment performance.

Additional duties that the Palletizer Operator will take on throughout the shift if Palletizer duties are limited:

  • Monitor product flow from strippers and silos to packaging machines.

  • Clear product jams at stripper and in turners, chimneys, and scales.

  • Add cartons and change packaging films.

  • Add containers to case packers.

  • Make operational adjustments to maintain proper machine rates and packaging quality.

  • Perform machine and product changeovers accurately in standard allocated time for individual lines.

  • Add glue and tape.

  • Monitors operate and changeover code daters, printers, and labelers.

  • Monitor and adjust scales to ensure proper weights.

  • Complete required production paperwork to accurately calculate run time, efficiencies and cases produced.

  • Always maintain a sanitary work environment.

  • Ensure that work areas are clean, and that Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) are fully complied with. Accept responsibility for AIB scores in the packaging area.

Supervision:

  • Production Supervisor.

Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills

  • Must possess at least 2 years of solid mechanical aptitude combined with technical training and/or the equivalent in manufacturing experience (preferably in food manufacturing).

  • Certification for operating a forklift and the Palletizing System is essential. Consequently, the visual acuity and manual dexterity to operate each is required and

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

  • Mechanical ability to the extent of analyzing basic troubleshooting of equipment is necessary.

  • Tasks performed, involve work with equipment and processes that require familiarity with formal safety procedures and in following the procedures in order to maintain the safety procedures and in following the procedures in order to maintain the safety of the work environment.

  • Good verbal communication skills required.

  • Experience with a warehouse or packaging type position would be helpful.
