As the Senior Associate in HSSE Operations , your primary responsibility will be to ensure safe and healthy working conditions for all colleagues and business partners. This involves implementing effective HSSE management systems, processes, and programs across operational sites to achieve departmental KPIs and targets. You will also oversee environmental compliance at these sites, ensuring adherence to relevant legislation and regulations. By fostering a culture of safety and accountability, you will protect both personnel and the environment while driving continuous improvement in HSSE performance.
Responsibilities:
Implement HSSE Management System pertaining to compliance and strategy for RWECE’s North American operations in order to establish HSSE as a key Company Value and drive continuous improvement in HSSE within all operations and functional departments of the company
Assist in the continuous development and execution of internal evaluation plans
Report, investigations, and closures of CAPA for incidents and events using RITAS case management software in a timely manner
Maintain, monitor, and report HSSE performance metrics, statistics, records, and injury reports (OSHA 300) in a timely manner, using automated record-keeping systems for assigned region
Perform analyses, root cause analyses, and determine corrective actions for adverse events or trends within assigned region
Perform Wind/Solar/Battery operations and maintenance audits, inspections, technical assessments and observations
Track and verify closure of site-level corrective actions, reporting all discrepancies requiring additional resources to resolve at the system level
Facilitate site HSSE Committees and meetings
Support all technologies (wind, battery storage, and solar), regions, and RWECE EH&S Manager as required
Actively participate in HSSE Program reviews and recommend HSSE Management System program objectives and targets
Train site employees in the areas of HSSE concepts and the HSSE management system; monitor performance to ensure compliance with established HSSE policies, practices, and reporting requirements
Train employees in HSSE-specific topics, as needed
This is a safety-sensitive position. Primarily field environment; up to and possibly more than 50% travel; may be exposed to hazardous conditions (Working at Height 300+ ft., Confined Space, Bloodborne Pathogens); supports multiple office and field work sites
Qualifications:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health, Safety, and/or Environmental Science or a related field preferred
Professional certifications preferred
Minimum 2 years of EHS experience applicable to operations, maintenance and/or construction of power generation and related facilities, preferably wind is required
Minimum 8 years of experience in lieu of a degree is acceptable; other factors will be taken into consideration
5 years can be satisfied with an Associates degree from an accredited school
Working knowledge of federal OSHA, CAL OSHA, California Environmental Knowlege and EPA, state OSHA/EPA, and labor standards for General and Construction industries, as well as the general principles of Industrial Safety and Industrial Hygiene preferred
Specific knowledge of local and state safety (California) and environmental regulations preferred
Proficiency with MS Office Suite, MSVisio, project implementation; auditing, management of change for ISO 40001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 9001
Familiarity with enterprise resource planning systems, e.g., Oracle, SAP, Maximo, learning management systems, HSSE Information Systems

Flexibility and willingness to travel domestically as needed to effectively perform the job
Able to and possibly more than 50% travel is required
If required to climb, a Wind Turbine Climb certification will be required, along with a medical evaluation to obtain clearance to work at height in extreme hot and cold conditions.
If required to climb, must pass required physical and training
May need to pass a pulmonary function exam and wear a respirator
Must be able to demonstrate flexibility and full range of movement to work in Confined Spaces
If required to climb, must maintain appropriate body weight with PPE and tools to not exceed OSHA limit of 310 pounds and posted weight limits on ladders
Will be offered a Hepatitis B vaccination for potential occupational exposure to Bloodborne pathogens while providing first aid/ CPR. Will be required to maintain First Aid, CPR, and AED certification
Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in California is $88,000 - $132,000. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
