Shire Demand Planning Manager I in Toronto, Canada

This position reports to the Head of 3PL - N. American Supply Chain, is responsible to manage end-to-end Supply Chain processes for the distribution of Shire products to Canadian commercial markets (over $500M in Gross Sales), in alignment with demand planning, commercial and the country head and according with Global SC guidance.

More specifically, this position is responsible to:

• Manage Canadian commercial Supply Chain, identifying and maintain sustainable processes to ensure timely delivery and no interruption of high value biopharmaceutical cold chain/temperature controlled supply to the cluster customers from all logistics aspects: Import, transportation, inventory and Warehouse/Distribution, to include long and short range planning activities.

• Ensure flawless execution of customer distribution by working closely with several internal and external partners and key stakeholders to include: customer operations, supply chain planning, commercial operations, launch management, quality, regulatory compliance, as well as 3PL (3rd Party Logistics) partners.

• Implement compliant distribution solutions and control end-to-end logistics processes for the distribution of products to the commercial market in a complex and high-regulated environment (GMP, cold-chain and etc.).

Importance 1 – 50% of time

The incumbent leads and/or collaborates on the logistics aspects of: End-to-end logistics distribution processes, plan and direct daily and weekly activities of the distribution, support line extensions, product launches and drive flawless execution across cross-functional team, and outside service providers, within overall project timeline or customer.

Manage relationship with commercial team and key stakeholders in order to understand business strategy to align with supply chain capabilities and impact the value proposition of the company, growth business and improve customer experience.

Importance 2 – 30% of time

The incumbent manage local partnership with Third-Party Logistics and Transportation providers.

Importance 3 – 20% of time

The incumbent lead any audit activities within any partners and be responsible for no defect findings. Communicate, Manage and Correct all type of Deviations and instantaneously update the business process to prevent from reoccurrence;

Responsible for coaching, directing, and guiding analysts, supervisors or coordinators staff. Manage projects and teams to achieve operational excellence, continuous improvement, or savings Perform other Duties as assigned.

Education & Experience Requirements

Essential:

  • BS/4-year college degree in materials management, logistics, business or a related discipline.

  • Master Degree / MBA in Supply Chain or Logistics and good knowledge and understanding of all aspects of SC, local regulations, budgeting, people management and project management.

  • Academic, extracurricular and minimum 8-10 year work experience in relevant industry areas such as Bioscience, Pharmaceutical and FMCG or highly regulated and compliance industry, cold chain/temperature controlled products.

  • Drives results through team leadership and self.

  • Complete, in-depth understanding of all aspects of the pharmaceutical business and cold chain Logistics / Supply chain strategies including total delivered cost, profitability, and service levels.

  • Strong communication skills (with staff, colleagues, suppliers, and senior management) both written, oral and presentations.

  • Strong demonstration of use of critical thinking and problem solving skills to address, correct, and prevent issues or make best decisions.

  • Embraces change, challenges status quo and makes recommendations for improvements to products and processes. Creates tools that help simplify job tasks and shares or implements these with others.

  • Strong ability to work in ambiguity and simplify the complex into operational processes with sustainable results.

  • Experienced with multiple PM tools and processes, and has the ability to manage critical situations;
