Shire Manager, Corporate Communications in Toronto, Canada
We are looking for an energetic, high-performing professional communicator to join our team in Canada. Reporting to the Head of Communications, Canada, the ideal candidate is a strategic, innovative, and collaborative communications professional who is results-oriented, and has had significant success in developing and executing on internal and corporate communications strategies.
Working with internal and external stakeholders, the Manager, Corporate Communications, will lead, manage and execute communications strategies and programs in support of internal, external and portfolio communications priorities.
Direct local planning with Canadian franchise and brand leads to devise and execute local PR plans for the Franchise portfolios to help build, protect and enhance Shire’s reputation as a leader in key therapeutic categories.
Support brand and reputation management strategies, ensuring alignment with the organization's public relations and stakeholder engagement strategy.
Develop and execute on strategic internal communications plans that support Shire’s strategic initiatives, including internal events, employee meetings, presentations, special projects, collateral and background materials, and other communications materials.
Lead local planning and implementation of centrally-driven corporate, disease-area and product-led initiatives internally and externally.
Develop and execute local website strategy aligned with global branding and website strategy.
Develop and manage all intranet and other digital related communications channels, including the company’s internal e-newsletter.
Provide additional guidance to new and retained public relations agencies on relevant corporate, franchise and brand-related initiatives and issues.
Provide strategic communications counsel to the Canadian Leadership Team regarding the delivery of communications initiatives and/or programs.
Manage Shire Canada’s communications calendar.
Collaborate with translation agencies to ensure accuracy and consistency of communication materials.
Provide issues management support including actions to avoid, mitigate and/or provide recommendations to manage issues.
Monitor relevant media and maintain relationships with key media as required.
Support Head of Communications, Canada as needed
Education and Experience
Undergraduate degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or a related discipline.
Minimum 7 years of communications experience.Pharmaceutical brand communications experience preferred.
Strong understanding of change management methodology and/or experience participating in initiatives requiring organizational change.
Ability to manage multiple and complex demands simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Developed, implemented and measured external and internal communications campaigns and strategies.
Experience managing issues in a matrix organization.
Media Relations experience required.
Knowledge of the pharmaceutical legal-regulatory environment is an asset.
Strong business acumen - keen awareness of business issues, processes and outcomes as they impact the company’s strategic direction.
Creative, compelling and articulate writer.
Dynamic team player with excellent organizational, interpersonal, influencing, presentation skills.
Confident, direct counsellor with strong listening and verbal skills – a good ambassador for Shire.
Ability to work in a global matrix environment and make connections across functions and teams.
Able to work independently and under pressure with conflicting priorities and tight deadlines, while maintaining a positive, helpful attitude.
Bilingual (English/French) is an asset.
Excellent capability with MS Office Suite.
SharePoint, Illustrator and Photoshop are an asset.
Excels at critical thinking, strategic planning, research, project management, special events planning and coordination, time management and problem-solving skills
