JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic, and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Digital Instructional Designer.

Reporting to the Section Manager of Learning & Development, this role is responsible for incorporating dynamic multimedia elements, such as videos and animations, into both classroom and online training settings. This role involves assessing service requests, consulting with clients, coordinating resources, developing frameworks, and implementing the necessary action plans to enhance the multimedia content and training experience while aligning with adult learning principles. This role will manage digital learning projects from end to end.

*KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES *

  • Plan, organize and oversee the execution of assigned projects, ensuring their successful completion within the given constraints of time, budget, and scope.

  • Collaborate with trainers, facilitators and subject matter experts to identify training needs, goals and objectives.

  • Conduct research and gather relevant materials, including legislation, codes, standards, and other compliance requirements to be used in determining training solutions.

  • Design and develop multimedia content for virtual learning, such as videos, animations, interactive presentations, and quizzes.

  • Develop scripts and storyboards for videos and other learning modalities.

  • Undertake postproduction activities including video editing, visual effects, transitions and quality control.

  • Conduct thorough evaluations of existing training programs and new training requests, identifying appropriate opportunities for the application of multimedia and ed-tech solutions to enhance learning outcomes that align with business objectives.

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for trainers and learners using virtual learning tools and platforms.

  • Collaborate with IT or technical teams to ensure smooth operation of e-learning systems and resolve any technical issues.

  • Use metrics and feedback to guide continuous improvement in learning strategies and content.

  • Execute and achieve project results within commercial confidentiality requirements and vendor/designer Non-Disclosure Agreements.

  • Propose innovations and improvements based on knowledge of training industry developments and computer technologies.

EDUCATION

  • 4-year university degree in Adult Education, Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Digital Media Production, Computer Science, Animation, or by having the equivalent level of education.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of 6 years’ relatable experience

  • A comprehensive knowledge of eLearning methodologies, marketing, multimedia content creation, and training technologies.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications to communicate with diverse stakeholders, management, and project teams.

  • Requires substantial experience in marketing, eLearning, and digital content creation, underpinned by a strong understanding of adult education principles and web technologies.

  • A proven track record in managing projects is essential, demonstrating skills in coordinating teams, meeting deadlines, and delivering high-quality instructional materials.

  • Knowledge and experience are required in conducting market research, analyzing data, identifying target markets, developing materials using modern technologies and adaptive platforms.

  • Familiarity with the latest trends in technology and a capacity to adapt to an evolving environment is required.
