The team:

Scotiabank’s Global Technology Enterprise Platforms (GTEP)’s Employee Digital Experience (EDX) team, focus as a group, on technology tools, access & experience improvements for the Bank’s global employee base. EDX represents the ‘ voice of the employee ’ in understanding employee requirements in terms of technology to be able to successfully execute their job functions and using this insight to assist in delivering tools and skills to them.

The role:

Reporting to the VP, Employee Digital Experience, you will combine both transformational & critical business-as-usual support across the Bank’s Global footprint with a focus on improving and supporting how the Bank’s employees communicate and collaborate. Key focus is on supporting the adoption of technology including mobile, collaboration and productivity tools and enhancing the employee experience using technology. You will lead dedicated teams with accountability for Telephony Technology, Application Access Provisioning and Collaboration Technology support and transformation.

You are responsible for managing multiple projects with Global impact, concurrently. You’re also responsible for managing very high-volume day-to-day support activities underlying Telephony, Application Access, and Collaboration technology. The people management of the 3 teams in their department will consist of coaching & inspiring your teams to excellent performance. You are expected to identify strategies and objectives and act to implement them on your own initiative. You are also expected to function independently to ensure that the department's objectives are met.

In this role, you must be able to react quickly to resolve problems and work extended hours as required to meet implementation deadlines or resolve issues to minimize impact to the end users. To this end, you must be available on short notice to lead & guide staff during business disruption. When required, you may travel to South or Central America several times per year.

Is this role right for you?

  • You get to lead our Strategic Program Office, which manages multi-million-dollar global transformation & adoption programs in the collaboration space. Recent examples have included the modernization of the bank’s desktop application suite and Intranet. Work in progress is exploring implementation of Google Workspace, further exploitation of AI capabilities to support employee productivity and removal of legacy collaboration technology.

  • You are eager to modernize and improve the employee experience, and remediate software currency risks, by managing multiple international teams.

  • You thrive on Employee Collaboration Technology Adoption, which will improve overall awareness and usage of technology applications across the bank by facilitating training and knowledge sharing.

  • You embrace the work of the Employee Access and Provisioning team, which manage access to 200+ applications globally. You will lead the modernization of this function through the growth of Automation, and in time, the expansion of Automation capabilities across EDX to achieve cost and time savings.

  • You like the challenges associated with Employee Telephony Support, which provide provisioning & support for all on premise and mobile telephony. Current focus is Canada, but you will be evolving this function into Global oversight in the coming year, aligned with the expanding role of the EDX team.

  • You are keen about Employee Collaboration Support, which provides 2nd level support for all Collaboration tools (O365, Telus, Google) for 100K global employees.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

  • You can demonstrate excellent communication (verbal/written/presentation) skills in English. The same in Spanish is highly desirable.

  • You have excellent proven team leadership skills, which includes professional working experience in managing remote teams.

  • You have a proven track record with Executive Level strategic influencing skills, which must include the ability to frame technology opportunities in terms of business and employee experience value.

  • You have at least 10+ years of progressive IT and/or Business industry working experience in infrastructure & desktop applications.

  • You also have at least 3+ years of professional working experience in managing teams and/or projects/programs.

  • You can demonstrate an expertise in very complex business and technical processes, and their implications across the enterprise.

  • You must have expertise in project management disciplines/protocols and proven experience leading large, complex technology delivery programs across multiple geographies. Key in this experience will be the ability to construct business cases for presentation to Executives that clearly illustrate financial opportunities for the stakeholders.

  • You also have strongly developed collaboration skills to partner with peer groups within EDX and across GTEP to drive change and deliver service to employees.

  • You can provide thought leadership in advancing the experience with technology for employees across the Bank. Research and exposure to trends in the communications space, including the impact of AI/Chat GPT, are not only encouraged but a necessity.

  • As you will interact extensively with Compliance, Security, Audit and Legal during day-to-day and project related activities, you must be a Risk Champion, ensuring that technology and processes within the team are aligned to always protect the Bank.

  • An asset to have professional working experience in Latin America.

  • Completion of a post-secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering, Technology, Business Administration, or in a related field of study.
